Did any of you guys need to use spacers upon installation of coilovers?

I installed my HKS Hipermax D coilovers and they were rubbing against my teardrops, I tried my Volk Racing Evo 3 wheels and they're still rubbing. I guess I'm gon' have to use spacers.

Anyone have / had this problem?

Thanks

What offset are the wheels? (Volk's, teardrops may rub if coilover has a larger body)

koukimonst3r 04-03-2010 09:16 AM

That I don't know, the info inside the wheel has been rubbed off. I gave up on it and never tried the rear. The front coils were rubbing against my tires big time.

Wheel wise, I only have info for the rear which is 17x9 +37.

Is it safe to use one of those bolt on spacers with bolts? I was thinking of buying a pair but I don't know how reliable they are.

im running 9.5 +11 no spacers and im .5 inch from the spring
you should buy some 25mm spacers if you want to be really low

I believe the fronts are 8's never measured it. would you recommend the spacers with extended bolts? I'm guessing I have to run those for the front. I don't know about the rears though.

nismosx 04-03-2010 06:39 PM

alot of people do it i personally dont because its not true offset but in this situation u need it for now i guess? til you could get better wheels
just make sure u get hub-centric spacers h&m brand is the best

koukimonst3r 04-03-2010 07:54 PM

according to some people on bc240, the rears should be fine. I'm thinking of getting 15mm slip on spacers with extended bolts.

do you know any place where I can get it locally?

nismosx 04-03-2010 08:40 PM

i would buy that stuff online because our dollar is par and theres always deals on zilvia.net

koukimonst3r 04-04-2010 05:34 PM

yeah I'll check it out tonight, thanks!

I have a set that I bought from PDM last year, I might consider parting. They're bolt on 25mm.

koukimonst3r 04-09-2010 12:04 AM

after seeing that pic, I wanna paint my evo 3's gold now

25mm is too much for my front. I'm looking for 15 - 20 mm, thanks though.

koukimonst3r 04-18-2010 10:53 PM

finally picked up 15mm spacers.

installed the coilovers, tried the spacers with the wheels I have and they don't clear. the stock studs hit the back side of my wheels. my wheels are 4/5 dual bolt pattern.

any help?

fliptuner 04-18-2010 10:55 PM

Cut the studs

koukimonst3r 04-18-2010 11:04 PM

that's what I was thinking too, but safety wise, should I?

fliptuner 04-18-2010 11:51 PM

Well, the nut can't grab any more, right?

koukimonst3r 04-18-2010 11:53 PM

well since I have 4/5 lug dual bolt pattern wheels, the spacers I think were meant to clear ONLY 4 lug wheels.

Walperstyle 04-20-2010 09:31 AM

Make sure you check the adjustment nut and bolt on the bottom of the coilover... you should be able to adjust it a little. I had the same problem when I mounted my nismo LMGT4 wheels.

Either way, get an alignment when you are done dicking around.

koukimonst3r 05-08-2010 11:39 PM

haven't driven my car for over a week coz it was making some clunking sound, checked it out today. sure enough, my left coilover rod? cracked in half so now I'm screwed.

is there any way I could rebuild it? or do I have to buy new ones?
