Our Newest Vendor, U-Fix-It Auto Service!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/U-FIX-...2690653?ref=ts

A new concept for the do-it-yourself'r. You think you are able to work on the car? You know what your doing, but just lack the space, or the right tools to work on it? Here is the latest solution! U-Fix-It will rent you the hoist, or the floor space to work on ur own car. They have the hoists, the work bench, the power plugs, the air lines, all but the hand tools needed for you to work on your own car! Conveniently located off a main road, they provide the tools, just not the man power, and at a reasonable rate, by the hour!

I think they have like hand jacks and jack stands, also air compressors. But any tools that you'll need, you will bring your own. This is great for those who live in an apartment and what not. maybe finally I can install my exhaust bushings ....

Sweet idea for people like me who can't do stuff like oil changes in my complex parking lot.

If I need to get simple stuff done, I'd seriously consider going here.

EDIT: @ aznboi128: It's 20 bucks an hour according to their FB page.

Don't know the term, but do they have barrels with funnels sticking out of them to drain fluids into? eg. coolant, engine oil etc.

Edit:
Read on FB fan page that they have the fluid drain buckets. Awesome.

Sweet. I swear I remember reading a thread here about this idea. We all thought it was a good idea but the problem of insurance came up to make it profitable.

I wonder if the owner is a member of RS? If so, all the best to you.

About 35 or more years ago there was a U-Fix-It shop just off Main and 6th or 7th in Vancouver. I used to change the oil and work on my dad's old Chevy Biscayne, later his 73 Nova. It was a grungy place. I remember a caged area where the owner kept the tools he rented out. Reminded me of the garage from "Taxi".

Anyway, I wonder if it's the same people (son or daughter running the place).

Awesome idea, though. For 20 bucks/hour, changing your oil doesn't make sense as it costs about that much at Mr. Lube (labour), but for other jobs, it's the only way to go. Especially when weather is shitty. Damn, I could have used this shop when I had to run 1/0 power cable under the truck. My old place had huge ants in the driveway. Fucking crawed up my pants all the time.

I think people nowadays are a lot more knowledgeable and work safe. I'm sure they'll keep a close eye on what people are doing. Any stupid, unsafe stuff and out you go.

Very cool. There have been plenty of discussions on this business model on this site over the years.

For something like installing coilovers, I will gladly pay for the use of a hoist and to be inside!

That's a cool idea, but I can see cars falling off the hoist and people seriously hurting themselves being a problem.

Cool concept. Wouldn't insurance etc be an issue? Not everybody knows how to use a hoist properly, I could imagine someones car falling off due to it being raised improperly.
