You have to ssh into the phone and edit the host file just like how you did it on your pc. Go to root folder/etc/host

I got here from my berries browser, but I honestly can not figure out how to edit the host file on windows 7. I googled and it just does not make sense to me, I honestly don't know much about computers.

This is pretty funny, that guy came and spammed his forum here, as soon as he could access the site. Then I banned him from RS. So he goes on Twitter and says that it's "their loss"

Yeah, I feel bad to lose such a valuable member who was willing to take so much time to promote his stupid Audi site.

Follow the instructions that skinnypupp posted, but for windows 7 you have to click start menu, get to notepad, and right click, run as admin, and look for the host files.

From then on just edit the host file as required, save it, close your firefox or IE and restart your browser. Should work though.

I tried the flushdns.
I edited the host file.
I reset my router.
I restarted my computer, and left the router off while I was at school. Hoping by some miracle it would reset "The Internet"
I repeated the next day.

And out of the blue it fucking works?
At least I had the chance to study for my test...

go to the folder c: \windows\system 32\drivers\etc
right click on the "host" file and go to properties and uncheck "read-only"

open notepad (right click run as admin)
open a file in c: \windows\system 32\drivers\etc (have "all files" showing not just txt files)
open the file called "host"
scroll to the bottom of that file and type in
"174.37.158.171 www.revscene.net"
save the file (ctrl+s)

your done

hmm i guess its not jsut me than.
i thought it was my internet connection lagging up, and every link i click within rs takes like 10+ sec to load.

SkinnyPupp 04-11-2010 06:10 AM

It should be faster than ever now. I moved all static objects (images, scripts, etc) over to the 2nd server, running on lighttpd. If you are having problems with images loading, wipe your cache and try again :)

I also edited the title header, it was pointlessly huge... I'd like to change the way we serve local sponsor banners too, it's really inefficient... Stay tuned ;)

fliptuner 04-11-2010 09:36 AM

Minor glitch?

If I go to User CP a list of recently replied to, subscibed threads comes up BUT it's missing a bunch. I have to view ALL subscribed threads to see the missed ones that were replied to recently.

Also noticed that if I didn't reply to a thread (unsubcribed) from say, 2 days ago, it will remain highlighted. Before, those threads would "time out?" and not be highlighted.

I know you're still fine tuning, just wanted to point these out.
