PC Random restart - Please guide to diagnose
Hi All
I got this random Restart on my PC
I am hoping someone here can guide me slowly to diagnose the problem and finding the solution

where should I start
I have CPUZ report ... will that help?
any other tools I should get

I suspect it is the memory not set / optimize properly on the bios. I bought this dual memory kit sometime ago from NCIX

it was a good deal I didn't research wether it is good for my mobo ga-ma78gm-s2h

Please let me know where to start in diagnosing this Random Restart ....

Symptoms:
no BSOD. goes black right away. then it start back up. after desktop comes back I always have to right click my wireless network and click troubleshoot problem in order to get internet back.

since it happens once or twice a day.. now ,every time it goes black I just let it shut down by pressing F8 then press and hold the power button. This way I don't need to click - troubleshoot problem - in order to get internet back.

OS: Windows 7 Pro 32 Bit

On PCWizard 2010 Power/Aux Temperature reports: 82 °C

i put in some futureshop ram in my computer years ago. i couldn't figure out what was wrong, but it was randomly restarting all the time. i eventually took out the ram and didn't have any further problems.

try pulling out the ram?

you mentioned you got a ram kit from NCIX. Did you always have that ram on, or did you recently swap it out.

If the problem has occured AFTER you changed ram, then the biggest suspicion would be the ram, like no limitz above mentioned

I got the memory from NCIX on Feb 2008
Then I use it on another machine (my friend's computer)
I think my friend may have similar problems. Until I took it out and use it in my machine... ummm maybe in early 2009
didn't have any problem until maybe about 2 months ago....

but I guess I should look into new memory eh?
but what a waste of 2 GB of memory ... what should I do with it. any suggestion for memory check software?

Have you disabled Automatic Restart when you get a System Failure?

yup I disabled that
but it still goes dark right away when it happens

I pulled one ram out now. so I am only using 1 GB
let see how that goes

if that goes well.. then memtest86 then..
I hate memtest86 , as I remember it is really slowwwww take hours but I guess that is the only memory test software available ?

regardless of if u swapped the ram, it can go bad at anytime. random restarts is a good sign of that
