Things to do in Chicago?

I just found out I have to go to Chicago for work in May. I don't have much free time but I do have a friday to look around before I fly back here on sat. other then going to a baseball game(cubs are out of town dammit) I was wondering if anyone else would be able to give me a idea what else I could do for fun and check out?

In Chicago you gotta eat, eat and eat.

I consider myself to have a very high standard on food, to be more specific, I'm very picky on the flavors.

I ate at maybe 12 different restaurants while I was there, and god forbid... even the steam bum was pretty good!!!!

can you fly back on Sunday instead and pay for the hotel on Saturday?

murd0c 04-07-2010 07:22 AM

Nope I have to fly back on sat the tickets are already booked.

What kinda good restaurants do you recommend? Of course its known for the deep dish pizza, so what's the best pizza joint?

I went to Pizzeria Uno last time, but plan ahead or make reservations if they take them. Average wait is usually 40-60 minutes just cause the pizzas take forever to bake. There's another 2 or 3 that are pretty popular as well, I just google'd them lol.

Sears Tower? The metallic bean? I'm kind of curious too since I'm going back this summer.

If I were to go to Chicago, I would drive to see the United Center and take a picture with Michael Jordan's statue outside :D . That's only because I'm a huge fan.

I think Sears Tower is pretty good to do and see the city (if it's a nice day).

Let me know if you will be hitting up the malls/etc. I want to ask you to check and see if you can find something for me :) if you can.. hehe...I'll pm u if you are.. if not, no big deal

For some reason, hockey players love playing/partying in Chicago...

i'd wanna go visit one of the trading floors to see how crazy it is.

Your in chicago, go for chicago style pizza. Best place I have been, and most locals rave about, giordano's pizza. I think they have two locations now, but the one right down town is the spot everyone raves about. I only went to one just outside of downtown, and it was pretty damn great.

I really enjoyed the food at Weber Grill restaurant, inspired by the bbqs! lol Really good ribs there.

My wife's from Chicago, she'll tell you all the best places... but for sure, Giordano's is top of the list (they'll flash-freeze pizzas that you can bring home with you, too!). There's also a section of town they used to call Burritoville, all Mexican eateries staffed by real Mexicans... we went to one place, got a MASSIVE (like, you can barely wrap two hands around it) burrito for like $2.50.

Oh, and as far as non-eating attractions:

Shedd Aquarium
Field Museum
Museum of Science and Industry (very cool, they have a full 737 inside!)
Lower Wacker Drive (famous from the Blues Brothers, and more recently from Dark Knight).

flash freeze a pizza? hmmmmm that could be a good idea. If you can ask her anything else I could do.

I just have next Friday free so I don't have much time but want to fit everything in I can.
