It was a big security hole apple's left out in the open when they rushed to ship the product. I wouldn't be surprise. Even the ps3 got hacked already. But still i don't see whats so good of using linux on ps3 anyways. Unless is for modded reason. But down the road i think someone is gonna come up with something like downloading those ps3 games without paying just like ipod apps.
...Sony put Linux on the PS3. It was a stock feature of the PS3. Some idiot claims he hacked the PS3 but hasn't come out with anything in weeks so it was likely BS.

u mean geohot? He got the CFW on youtube, but only to enable "Other OS" back on 3.21...
I read geohots claim that he has hacked the ps3 and I believe it considering this is the dude to 1st hack the ipod/iphone
I think he said it took him 3 years to hack the ps3 and now he is working on a program to be released.

didn't he "hack" it after talking to a whole bunch of other people (russians and such) and combining all their info? either way, I call b/s if all he's done is re-enable a feature on the PS3

i'm sure he can do way more beside re enable other OS feature with his hack. I think i remember reading some where that he won't do anything illegal, however if he were to release it to public. It is totally up to other 3rd parties dev to come up with something just like the ipod/itouch.
i think hes having issues with the GPU or something? can't get it to copperate. (im newb at hacking, but from his blog, he keeps mentioning GPU problems).

u got it all wrong.
geohot is the guy who hacked the iphone.
he hacked ps3 because he can't stand that no one can hack ps3 after 3 years it came out. he hacked it with lower level hardware timing trick from linux in ps3 and sony verified it. it's not patchable because it's low level hardware issue. geohot stopped right there and didnt bother to write a cfw. he wants ps3 hackers to continue it as cfw is also time consuming.
he asked around after a month but no one got cfw yet. sony decided to remove the other os support because they can't patch the hack. geohot was mad and so are many ps3 users as sony decided to remove other os. if u dont update, u cant play online.
geohot promised cfw to bring other os back last week. he shows the cfw with other os this week and will be released soon.
even if it's false claim, cant deny he is the one who hacked iphone and benefited many ppl. Posted via RS Mobile
