Don't go to MEC, they will hassle you into buy an expensive and useless tent. Around MEC, there are plently of small camping stores that have 1 person tents, their price are usually 30% cheaper, or you can buy or rent a used one. Works as well as a brand new one.

i agree their prices are higher BUT their warranty is second to none!
I had an old MEC backpack AND and torn MEC tent which they tried to repair for me, they got the backpack repaired AND since they couldn't repair the tent they replaced it with a new one! all free of charge!

That peace of mind is worth the price IMO

you might also note that some of the newer style sleeping bags are essentially tent in themselves, might want to look into that as well

there's that outdoor supply place on Yukon and 7th i forget the name but they also have good prices on quality gear as well(sorry above post had it 3vets outdoorsupply)

For a LOT cheaper than the MSR Hubba Hubba, another option is the MEC Tarn 2. It packs to a slightly smaller volume, but weighs 0.7kg more

MEC Tarn 2:
Packed Size 15 x 53cm
Packed Weight 2.7kg

MSR Hubba Hubba:
Packed Size 17 x 51cm
Packed Weight 2.0kg

I have had 2 mec tents and all my buddys have them. Yes you pay more but they are easy as hell to set up and the quality is 2nd to none. You are better off spending the case now because I guarantee you that if you get something cheap you will upgrade to a better quality sooner then later.

why only one person tent? You've never met someone on a camping trip that you end up sharing your tent with?

Wrong user this is Phil. Cman would never get dirty in the bushes.

Parents still got the first tent we bought 25 years ago from Canadian Tire or Sears. That tent has been trough a lot over the years.

I bought a 2 person tent when I was in high school from Canadian Tire and it's still in great shape.

The only stores I've been to are: Canadian Tire, Sears, MEC, Sports Chek, Army & Navy.
