You'd think at least funeral costs would be tax exempt, IMO.

skyxx 04-20-2010 08:11 PM

^ To be honest, funerals are where you can easily make money. Technically no one really bargains since everyone is so sad already.

Senna4ever 04-20-2010 08:21 PM

...and everyone dies, so guaranteed income! The government combined the two immutable facts of life: death & taxes.

skyxx 04-20-2010 08:23 PM

^ :lol

did you know there is a whole province outside of metro vancouver?

BaoXu 04-20-2010 09:34 PM

yeah but he was asking specifically about vancouver...

ajax 04-20-2010 09:52 PM

isn't it that the amount over $400k is taxed? Ie a $560k house has only $160 subject to tax.

call me high or whatever,

but I think the government should legalized weed and sell it at an inflated price instead of adding a 6% mandatory tax.

The revenue generated from weed should be good, but might not be comparable to the HST.

Amuse 04-20-2010 10:04 PM

How about food?
So gas prices will go up even more?
I better renew my Costco card before the hst.

HST is pathetic. Is there anything that will stay 5% GST only?

I think the carbon tax increases each year.

So the gas will hike up twice as much due to the combination of the carbon tax and HST.

cococly 04-20-2010 10:22 PM

7% increase in gas prices......

From current ~$1.20/L to $1.28/L directly.

hirevtuner 04-20-2010 10:31 PM

probably see gas prices up around 1.30 come summer time damn it

i guess they can't tax you walking

1.30 is a steal in the summer. I still remember when it was 1.50 - 1.60

That was killer.

wtf man, another 7% increase in gas

OK, gas right now: (After HST in Bold)

(112.3 cents/litre) --> 119.7

(GST: 5.3) --> GST/HST: 12.7
Federal Excise Tax: 10.0
Provincial Fuel Tax: 8.5
Provincial Carbon Tax: 3.33
Urban Transit Tax: 15.0
Total Taxes: 49.5

An annual carbon tax increase makes it even more.
