What's with Mainlanders and their long pinky fingernails? I've seen this a couple times over the years. Some Mainlander guys have long pinky fingernails but the other nails are normal. |
coke |
pepsi |
to some people, it's a superstitious thing. if the pinky is not longer than the 3rd joint of the ring finger, it's consider bad luck, thus they grow out their finger nails to "compensate" the length. |
for good luck and coke |
coke? what about coke? |
to snort coke? |
naw there just too cheep to buy Q-Tips, so they just grow out there nail so they can clean there ears. or cause they have a coke habit. |
^ You drink Coke, silly! Why would you snort it? You would get all that fizz in your nose and it would burn! |
its for mah jong. I guess it's more epic if they use their pinky to flip the mah jong pieces. |
Doesn't mean there not laborers and have money? If they worked in a factory or in the fields it would break? |

It's for picking boogers. No joke. |
its not just mainlanders... if ur just noticing it on mainlanders and only lately u must be blind |
Coke nail it's called. Saves the trouble of cutting rails. Dunk nail in bag, sniff from nail, grate teeth. The longer the nail is, the more hardcore you are. |
i think originally... back in the day, it was for their snuff, opium(rare) nose picking, ear scratching some find it lucky etc... its an asian thing not just chinese see lots of viets with it (long nails in general) |
I've seen many Vietnamese with it, and Mainlanders, but no HKers from what I have noticed. I do notice HK people picking their nose every day (they usually roll their boogers up with their palms, and flick it on the ground. Only once have I seen someone eat their boogers), but they don't have the pinky fingernails going. |
