s2000 wheel fitment

hey everyone!
so im thinking of getting rims for an s2000
right now im thinking rota p45r or svn
im thinking:
p45r front 18X8.5 +25 rear 18X9.5 +48

svn front 18X8.5 +48 rear 18X9 +48

do guys think the front setup will rub?

thanks in advance!

SumAznGuy 04-26-2010 07:46 PM

Depending on how wide of a tire, and any body mods, YES.

I am running a 255/40/17 tire on a 17X8.5 wheel with 48mm offset and it will rub with enough rear suspension compression.
A 245 tire should be fine.

For the fronts, a 225/45/17 tire on a 17X7.5 wheel with 45mm offset and it does rub with enough front suspension compression.

Most guys on S2ki are running 63mm offset for wheels that are 8.5 in and wider.

Mugen EvOlutioN 04-26-2010 08:05 PM

do not put rotas on s2k plz

Nismo 1234 04-26-2010 08:18 PM

why not rotas?
cuz of their cracked rims?
i was looking at authentic rims... they are at least 1000 in difference

Thanks for the info SumAznGuy! but im trying to run 18X8.5 in the front, and you have 8.5 in the rear...
what kind of rims you have on ur s2k?

younglude 04-27-2010 04:56 AM

are you lowering the car?

do you want to roll the fenders?

Mugen EvOlutioN 04-27-2010 07:12 AM

becuz rotas.....are ...ummm rotas?

put some nice work or rays on that s2k and make her happy

If you want 8.5's in the front without body mods, then you will have to get something with a 63 or higher offset.

Anything lower than that and the tire will hit the fender liner/clips or worse, the fender itself.

Or else, roll the fenders or get wide body fenders to get the clearance you need with the lower offset wheels.

younglude 04-27-2010 02:16 PM

why do you want to run such wide rims????

traction issues??

!Yaminashi 04-27-2010 03:58 PM

^For the look

thanks for the info, too bad the cheap rims dont make high offsets, and idont play to roll my fenders. im gonna try to find some second hand rims.......my car is having alignment issues so the tire is bold on one side.... kinda need rims soon since i dont want to spend money on a new set of tires if im going to buy a new set of rims lol, tats why i considered going for rotas.

i wish i can afford nice rims on such short notice, i just found out my car has alignment issues, and i dont really want to spend a new set of tires if im gonna get a new set of rims

its not that i want to run such wide rims, its just rota rims tat i like only come in 18x8.5 or 18x9(correct me if im wrong)

younglude 04-28-2010 12:19 PM

then unless you want to do a lot of fender work and run some good camber you better find other wheels

I have Weds on mine. Btw, if u want keep stagger, your going to need 9.5s, as stock is 1" wider in the rear, in order to keep the car's handling characteristics of course. But if you want more understeer than go for it.
And as for why not Rotas? cause they are cheap pos, that crack and are heavy as fuck.

Why not? looks good. XD and it prevents most idiots from oversteering into a pole.

you drive an s2k, have some pride. Not some shit box EF EG

if i were u, i would save up and spend on a set of quality rims.

younglude 04-28-2010 04:10 PM

what idiot needs to worry about oversteering into a pole on the street/

if they have that worry let me know so i know who to avoid on the street

Nismo 1234 04-28-2010 04:51 PM

looking for a set of used quailty tims now lol
after seeing ppl against rotas... its kinda not the way to go in the long run
not really planning to roll my fenders, and lowering the car comes after the rims
another reason for me to look for at nicer rims :)

thanks for the replies guys!

younglude 04-28-2010 04:56 PM

if you do not want to roll your fenders, look for offset very high like sumaznguy has posted

The higher offset the better

Mugen EvOlutioN 04-29-2010 07:41 AM

just look for a proper fitment that will still remain as flush as possible without touching fender

jing 04-29-2010 11:34 AM

^ Then that's not flush

Mugen EvOlutioN 04-29-2010 12:08 PM

almost flush lol

SumAznGuy 04-29-2010 04:49 PM

You can get away with a 45/48 offset wheel on the rear but then you have to run a narrower tire. A 245 tire on an 8.5 wheel with 48mm offset should be narrow enough to clear the rear fenders.
Most of the time, my 255's don't rub. When they do, it is because I am going too fast over a bump and the suspension has to compress quite a bit.

As for the front, same thing. Go with a 215 or a 215 tire, and that should miss the fender liner and clips. My 225 tires do rub under heavy compression.

As for Rotas, well they are pretty ghetto, but then again I am running Spoon knockoff Rota Slipstreams. Meh, I have a set of JDM BBS's for the track.

SumAznGuy 04-29-2010 04:51 PM

Oh yeah, these are for sale.

Cut the quarter panels and run 10+ offset 17x9.5 like me =D hahaha

XtC-604 04-30-2010 01:23 AM

Theres a few widebodies avail for the S2000: amuse, j's racing, feels, Ing+1, C-west, asm, amuse, sorcerer, and a crap load more but those look awsome!
