Ridiculous idea. Will NEVER happen.

ouch~ no more cheap cars :(

hk20000 04-27-2010 03:50 PM

^ hopefully doesn't apply to us...

1exotic 04-27-2010 04:01 PM

^ It doesn't.

hk20000 04-27-2010 04:56 PM

^ I mean in the future. If the Frenchies get their way we'll probably follow for some unreasonable reasons.

Onassis 04-27-2010 04:58 PM

Evolutions V-X came in LHD format. They were labeled as RS or RSII versions in Europe for rally teams.

hk20000 04-27-2010 05:55 PM

figured that out just now about to ninja edit and then u came in already lol.

Anyway the idea is that....many cars are rhd only.

Fixed.

GabAlmighty 04-27-2010 09:19 PM

You can still import it if it's 25+ years old.

Which is bullshit since the Quebec report is stating that RHD cars are unsafe. If that was the cause, a total ban should've been implemented - not solely on 15 year old cars.

Sounds like the CADA has their hands all over SAAQ.

At least the French can import 89 GTRs, albeit again, in a few more years...

Nothing in the Canadian car market compares.
I can see why the government might be under some pressure to ban these...

THANK YOU

:haha: @ all the idiots saying people buy RHD cars to be different
My car was in better condition and cost half as much as the north american counter part, and it has a better engine.

Try finding a low mileage, clean, unmolested 6sp LHD supra locally.

spoon.ek9 04-27-2010 11:48 PM

i still dream of importing a mint JDM EK9!

Quebec is like that annoying kid your teachers force you to play with when you're in elementary school... and they have a talk with the whole class about "including others" and don't explicitly say who.. but everyone knows who they're referring to. Looks like quebec might ruin the fun for everyone now.

+1, i for one hate those god damn frenchies, their policies and attitudes to anything sub par to their expectation of french equality is so messed.

Driving a RHD car in Canada (or anywhere besides England and Japan) is really stupid. I have seen a lot of them wrecked by the teenagers that somehow managed to buy them. You do 'get use to it', but in Vancouver's retarded traffic, its not the best car for a daily driver. If you do own a RHD performance car, keep it on the mountain roads where it belongs.

...that said, I simply love the GTR's. I'd probably own one if it wasn't for I could build a s chassis (and I am) to be better for the same price. You put $12-$20k into a non rusted S13 coupe, ...you have yourself a car.

Like someone said before, it's because they are teenagers. You throw them in a LHD Pontiac Firefly they'd crash anyway. :\

That being said, I don't know how it works over there, but that seems harsh to me.

Considering this isnt in effect til april 29th, I dont think its because it was a RHD car and it was already mentioned cars registered in quebec before apr 29th wouldnt vioalte their new law.

I wouldnt buy a RHD car unless I couldn't get it LHD (pretty much the only RHD car I would buy would be one of the evo generations, skylines are unreliable end of story).

If it means getting rid of those fugly Delica vans you see driving around, then I'd support the ban 100%.

Did the SWAT team come to your house in a bunch of Delicas, and disrespect your family? And RHD NARC'D you out?

They are very capable vans that use very little diesel so let them be.

CP.AR 04-28-2010 02:50 PM

I want my Evo IV.

NOW

Think about the demographic that buy JDM RHD cars. 19-30 year old Male's mostly? All think they are the drift king and most just crash and cause accidents which insurance companies pay for. I love lots of the JDM only cars, but to drive them here daily is dumb. Better get my JZX100 soon.

the flip side of this is responsible drivers who drive even more carefully since it's a RHD vehicle. there's always going to be idiot drivers be it LHD or RHD.

+1 on that JZX100. It's like one or two more years left before it's legal. I'll roll in my MX73 until then.

Oh yea of course. I bet the ratio of responsible drivers that own JDM cars is 8:2. But those 2 just fuck everything up every time.

Its all fun and games till someone get's hurt. Which I assume is the case in Quebec.
