awww man not this shit again... ALWAYS meet in a well lit, well populated area for example: I only meet buyers/sellers at a food court in a mall, or in tim horton's or something DURING THE DAY or EVENING (none of that 3AM shit) |
by the way, is Julia Tran hot? |

and none of them were bad. You just need to know how to "do business" under the circumstances. Since CL is not like a store, you can't just walk in and pay and leave. It's not eBay with all the PayPal security. No feedback, so you gotta figure it out yourself. I never made any transactions over $150, but anything over $100, I bring a friend with me. Or I meet in a shopping mall. 80% of my transactions were at Metrotown inside the mall. Just agreeing to meet there would eliminate a lot of potential thieves. Never do "quick transaction". Always communicate through email several times. It can really help get a feel of what kind of person you're dealing with. Many theives are douches, that will type like douches. They'll sound rushed to make a deal, will try to push to meet at shady areas using excuses like they live too far from a shopping mall, etc. It's not safeproof to assume all thieves are dumbasses, some can be quite cunning, but it does eliminate a lot of potential ones. It you're selling an item worth a few hundred, best to bring a friend. Even if it's at a mall. Quote:

so true, I have never gotten maced buying / selling honda parts on CL |
This happened again geez people have some common sense if you are meeting to sell expensive items bring a friend and meet in public areas. You are the seller you have the power to decide the meeting place if the buyer truely wants want you are selling he/she will be willing to meet anywhere. If he/she says stuff like too far, no car, etc. than say ok no sale and wait for someone else. if they truely want your items they will meet with you dont let the buyer dictate the terms of where you are going to meet |
wait wait your homie thought that someone would meet him behind hasting with $1300 cash? LOOL |
Hey guyz, im selling a white dussault with a panda hoodie for a low price of $300! Will only meet behind hastings and sushi town! only come by yourself! |
^ :lol always meet at public places. I thought that was common sense |

theres been a huge increase of ppl trying to use fake 100 dollar bills on craigslist. very fucking annoying. had it happen to me twice in a week when i was trying to sell a phone. first one was two hindus, one was fat, both said they were DJs. they even came to my condo where there was cameras!! second time it was some iranian kid. you can tell they are fake by the color of the bill, its too light. as if it was printed. and the security foil, if you look on the real 100, the word "100" is only shown when you flash it against some light, the fakes had them bolded. -before anyone starts thinking that im racist or whatever, this is exactly what i saw! not pointing fingers at any race or whatever. this is just who showed up at my door trying to pawn off fake brown bills be careful out there. i told them both to GTFO out of my building before i call the cops. people are scum these days. |

Those that are using fake bills and macing people are doing this because they have gotten away with it in the past. When selling something to someone: DO 1) Bring a friend or two 2) Do it in a high traffic area or where there are people present 3) Hell, if you feel the money is fake, take the person to the bank to verify. |
even if someone get maced at a public area, asian people are just gonna stand there and watch. |

I always do craigslist dealings. I always meet people either in a mall (Richmond Centre or Oakridge Mall) or in any Skytrain station during the day. I mean even if you think it's gonna be a smooth dealing, always play it safe. Even bring a friend or two if you like, as someone mentioned earlier. I'm sure your friend learned a valuable, but painful lesson that day. |
