I usually have it pretty low. Not the lowest but pretty low. I'm running a 1410 but I've swapped in the 1810 battery and added bluetooth so it's exactly the same. Also running su3500 so it should be even less power hungry. Oh well. Happy with it until the 1830T comes out.

x2, my 12.1" HP died too cause of overheating - yet HP support is awful and my warranty expired.
