Brought my laptop into ncix today and they said they don't do that kind of work and suggested I bring it to compu2000, where else can I go for this sort of work? Laptop works fine when connected to TV,

try to find the screen online and then diy, if you go anywhere it's going to be over priced

and depending on the laptop it might be best to get a new laptop

Specs on laptop?

I had an HP one that the screen messed up, and had vertical and horizontal lines everywhere. I just ordered one from ebay ($120) and swapped it out myself. Relatively easy and didn't take much time.

I did the same thing. All you need are small screw drivers, and finding a guide on google for your specific model on how to do it.

Beware though, the eBay replacement screen I got was also cheap (~$120 as well..) but had really shitty quality colours!

+1

had a vaio with a broken screen, costs too much to get a place to repair it and the lcd itself was a bit pricey (for diy) so i just sold mine on ebay (for an insanely great price, almost got scammed though but got my money)

Yeah, I'm with the others - do it yourself.

However, I know that not everyone is techincally inclined and would rather pay someone else to do it. I'd probably suggest an electronics repair place (that repairs TV's, stereos, etc). Most will probably do computer repairs (especially for something as simple as a laptop screen).

Thanks for the advice guys, definitely sounds like it'd make sense to diy, but say I was to look for a store, whom do you suggest?
