Accident on Knight Street Bridge Southbound

omg.. drove by a crazy accident on Knight St. Southbound near the Bridgeport exit.

I drove by at around 1:35am, the accident must have happened less than 2 minutes before I got there. The car was flipped on its roof sprawled across all of the right lane and a bit of the left. As I drove by the body was still there, the guy's face was all bloody. He was definitely unconscious, was not in good shape.

Looked like a silver integra but I could be wrong because I was just so shocked at seeing the body.

The firetruck and police drove by me near the New Westminster Hwy. exit so that's why I assumed it must have happened just before I got there.

Wow... it was a crazy sight.. hope the driver will be alright.

No pics, the car was blocking all of the right lane and a bit of the left so there was only one lane for cars to get through. And I'm not going to stop and take pics, especially if the body is still there.

The firetruck/police were already on there way like I said above, an ambulance would have already been called.

Was gonna stop and help but one of their buddies just waved me to pass- If they can handle the situation best to leave them to that-

Looks like it was a one-car accident. Driver probably lost control. Hopefully driver and any passenger are ok.

talked to some witnesses -driver passed away, one of the passengers ran away and the other one left in ambulance. supposedly the firefighters were on scene pretty fast but didn't do anything till the ambulance came.

VANCOUVER — The driver of a silver sedan is dead after an early-morning crash on the Knight Street Bridge.

The car crashed and flipped over at about 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near the Bridgeport exit on the Richmond side.

A passenger was also reportedly taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police were expecting southbound lanes to remain closed into the morning rush hour as they investigated.

"Commuters are advised to take an alternate route this morning and avoid the Knight Street Bridge," said RCMP spokesman Sgt. Rob Vermeulen.

"While northbound lanes are open, traffic will be affected and long delays are expected."

Vermeulen said police don't know how soon the bridge will fully reopen.

regardless of factors leading to this fatality, it is indeed sad news especially nearing Mother's Day.

^ I think it was only the Southbound lanes that were closed, so you should be good to go regardless.
