I've calculated the difference to be approx $150-$200 saved with all taxes/duties/exchange rates/etc included in the final price. |
You do a shopbot comparison? |
NCIX can do shopbot.ca price comparison too and I found it cheaper. Given that I only selected items from the SALE section strictly, then added price comparison to a few items. |
I was bored, here you go, no need to shop from newegg.com and waste your time driving and paying duty. PM everything to NCIX and pick it all up in one go. Some MIR but no biggie, $642.91 Sony Optiarc DVD Burner $21.99 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...-030-_-Product Antec Three Hundred Computer Case $53.99 http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/15...THREE_HUNDRED/ Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive $59.79 http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/19...al/WD6401AALS/ GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 790GXAMD Motherboard $99.99 http://www.infonec.com/site/main.php...tail&id=449859 XFX HD-577A-ZNDC Radeon HD 5770 XXX Edition 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card $163.32 http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/22...FX/HD577XZNFC/ OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply $54.85 http://www.directcanada.com/products...Z%20TECHNOLOGY G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 $111.99 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...ILL-_-20231277 AMD Athlon II X3 440 Rana 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core CPU $76.99 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...AMD-_-19103843 |
I recommend you go with a DDR3 system (like the one above). DDR2 costs about the same, is slower, and is older technology. I think you will need to buy name brand RAM. OCZ is not as highly rated as G.Skill or Corsair. Stay away from OCZ Gold. The reviews are bad. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...3LV4GK&Local=y. |

No reason to get a 790GX motherboard, you're spending $50 extra for nothing compared to a 785G |
Quote:
785G boards that offered DDR3 were similiarly priced to the 790GX anyways (there was another $20 MIR for this) |
You can get a 785G board for under $80, and even as low as $65 if you go with DDR2 (and with this platform there is literally no difference between DDR2 and DDR3). Also if it's a gaming PC, you'll want a CPU with full sized cache. Or if it's for something else, let us know and we'll see if we can pick something more appropriate. |
This is a budget gaming system, and I plan on overclocking it,.. I'm not sure what can make this build even cheaper? |
should I get the 5770 or 5850. The price difference is HUGE but is performance a lot different? |
If you are gaming, get the best video card you can possibly afford. You could even get cheaper ram and overclock less if it allows you to get a better video card. |
i might wait a little while for things to get cheaper. Because AMD just released the x6 and video cards might drop in price (hopefully) |
You'll be waiting for quite a while |
What makes you think that? I was thinking of purchasing end of june. |
Prices won't drop significantly by then |
Never know ncix has some ridiculous sales here n there lol |
^ You want advice yet you pretty much ignore them. :lol Nice going. |
iam still following his advice on the build. Just don't wanna purchase right now. Might pick up the parts if their on sale. Only doing this is because if I build it now iam gonna play games 24/7 and I got shit hw+studying to do for summer semester |
Skinnypupp: I obviously don't have the resources or knowledge like you do, can you recommend a specific 785G motherboard that is overclock able, supports DDR3 ram and crossfire?? So I can change my order and save some money. Thanks |
