newegg.com offer alot more rebates then .ca (which are even applicable to canadian residence)

I've calculated the difference to be approx $150-$200 saved with all taxes/duties/exchange rates/etc included in the final price.

akira112 05-11-2010 04:26 PM

You do a shopbot comparison?

illicitstylz 05-11-2010 04:32 PM

NCIX can do shopbot.ca price comparison too and I found it cheaper.

Given that I only selected items from the SALE section strictly, then added price comparison to a few items.

akira112 05-11-2010 04:39 PM

I was bored, here you go, no need to shop from newegg.com and waste your time driving and paying duty. PM everything to NCIX and pick it all up in one go.

I recommend you go with a DDR3 system (like the one above). DDR2 costs about the same, is slower, and is older technology. I think you will need to buy name brand RAM. OCZ is not as highly rated as G.Skill or Corsair. Stay away from OCZ Gold. The reviews are bad. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...3LV4GK&Local=y.

No reason to get a 790GX motherboard, you're spending $50 extra for nothing compared to a 785G

Some pretty dumb decisions there

Please elaborate? I asked earlier for advice on part recommendations with no response.

785G boards that offered DDR3 were similiarly priced to the 790GX anyways (there was another $20 MIR for this)

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2010 06:11 PM

You can get a 785G board for under $80, and even as low as $65 if you go with DDR2 (and with this platform there is literally no difference between DDR2 and DDR3).

Also if it's a gaming PC, you'll want a CPU with full sized cache. Or if it's for something else, let us know and we'll see if we can pick something more appropriate.

hoking 05-12-2010 06:15 PM

This is a budget gaming system, and I plan on overclocking it,.. I'm not sure what can make this build even cheaper?

DuhDang 05-12-2010 08:46 PM

should I get the 5770 or 5850. The price difference is HUGE but is performance a lot different?

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2010 08:53 PM

If you are gaming, get the best video card you can possibly afford. You could even get cheaper ram and overclock less if it allows you to get a better video card.

DuhDang 05-12-2010 09:02 PM

i might wait a little while for things to get cheaper. Because AMD just released the x6 and video cards might drop in price (hopefully)

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2010 09:06 PM

You'll be waiting for quite a while

DuhDang 05-12-2010 09:08 PM

What makes you think that? I was thinking of purchasing end of june.

SkinnyPupp 05-12-2010 09:17 PM

Prices won't drop significantly by then

DuhDang 05-12-2010 09:33 PM

Never know ncix has some ridiculous sales here n there lol

skyxx 05-13-2010 12:16 AM

^ You want advice yet you pretty much ignore them. :lol Nice going.

DuhDang 05-13-2010 12:44 AM

iam still following his advice on the build. Just don't wanna purchase right now. Might pick up the parts if their on sale.
Only doing this is because if I build it now iam gonna play games 24/7 and I got shit hw+studying to do for summer semester

hoking 05-13-2010 12:57 AM

Skinnypupp: I obviously don't have the resources or knowledge like you do, can you recommend a specific 785G motherboard that is overclock able, supports DDR3 ram and crossfire?? So I can change my order and save some money.

Thanks
