Forgot what this is called, thin metal piece that connects 2 wood pieces together.

I'm trying to connect two piece of wood together.
It's a thin piece of metal (that looks kinda like a cheese grater) with sharp spikes.
You hammer it in so it holds both piece of wood together...

anyone know what I'm talking about?

I can't find pictures of it... cause I need to know what's it called before
I can do that.. lol

I saw these in the top shelf, in the same aisle as nails/screws in Home Depot

Note that these are secured to both pieces of wood by nails, and you generally use one on each side - the little spikes won't hold it into the wood by themselves.

SilverBlitz 05-11-2010 02:49 PM

its cheapest at dick's lumber compare to home depo and rona

Gumby 05-11-2010 02:59 PM

So, we still don't know what they're called! "Truss connector plates"?

Check RouRK's link. They go by several different names depending on the exact design/purpose.

Now, now. You just had to go and ruin the fun by telling him how to properly do things. I thought whatever contraption this idiot was going to build would ultimately be his own demise so the world would be better off with one less fucking moron.

Thanks!

Leparto 05-11-2010 05:49 PM

How much are they are Home Depot and Rona? And where's Dick's Lumber?
I actually only need one. So I'm not interested in bulk buying.

lol, I'm not doing anything dangerous that could have killed me.
This is for a project where I need a thin metal plate, but I'm not sure where
I can get a thin metal plate... I figured something like this would work the same though.;)

Yea, that's one of the term.
I think Truss Plates, Connector Plates, Nail Plate, Gangnail Plate, all work.

Gussets do the same job, but are slightly different.
