More school attacks in China

http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapc...ex.html?hpt=T1

Can anyone shed some light on WTF is going on in China. Is there some cultural issue that's causing this? as we don't see it in other areas of the world.

Let put it this way. A lot of people in china are being treated very unfairly by the gov. Could coz the rich people are pretty much abusing them.

These poor people try to complain but no one will listen so the next best thing they can think of is take on these rich people's kids.

I remeber hearing similar attacks in japan aswell. All the attacks have been using knives. Don't they have guns over there? Or is it just harder to get your hands on a gun ?

That makes sense, do the poorer children not go to school in rural China?

I asked cause it is so different than stories from here where adults take issue with an establishment or employer, not with schools. The stories of schools are usually other students, not adults.

I also asked cause I know there are Chinese members who might shed some light on cultural differences the rest of us might not be aware of - since the media isn't reporting why these kind of attacks keep happening.

The only Chinese people who would be able to shed light on these "cultural diferences" would be people from the rural mainland. I would say that most Chinese on here are from the civilized parts (i.e. HK, Taiwan, etc.) who are just as appalled at what's happening in the motherland as you are. There's a reason why most of us look down on the mainland: it's because of stuff like this.

Signed - your friendly Chinese RS user.

no sure if this applies to every city in china, but in guangzhou which school your child goes to depends on where you live, usually within close proximity of the school. This results in inflating the value of the housing around all the good school (just like here, china puts rating and school and the parents take it really seriously). This results in school full of rich kids vs school full of poor kids. Also psychological problem and disease are still quite a taboo and misunderstand subject in china's society, I reckon they recognize like 1% of all the mental disorders in the DSM. When psychological problem arise the solution is usually to ignore/hide for fear of shame or to be put away and often mistreated in mental hospitals. And this is in the cities, imagine it to be alot worse in rural parts.

I don't have an answer why the guys choose to take it out on childrens, but most likely they all have some sort of mental problem and nobody (often even their family) cares about. seems like for frustration crimes against the society in asian society, people seems to want to follow a pattern. Once one guy does it and gets alot of publicity, copy cats follow. ie random stabbings in japan, throwing corrosive material on to busy streets in hk, and the kid killers etc.....

From talking with relatives, friends and random people in china. Seems like even when they are underpay and overwork by their company, they still hold quite alot of loyalty to their fellow employees and employers. result of communism? i don't know....

I'm not sure about all the cases, but the one in weifang province, the man that actually did the killings was married and what happened was that they could not get pregnant. So they contacted a person who sells "stolen"/kidnapped children. Most of the time they are toddlers or have just entered kindergarten. Anyways what soon happened was that there was a police raid on that seller, and that couple got involved and the wife has to go to jail or something. The news on that part was not very clear. Either way, the husband feels like he has lost his family (his wife and his future son) and he vows to get revenge by taking it out on other parents.

There has been a large increase in police presence at schools and currently you can not enter school grounds without being a parent and having a teacher personally escort you in and stay with you. So how they are entering and attacking students is beyond me.

I think this as well.

China is also going through its own 'industrial revolution' @ an unprecedented pace and scale (it took the US 200 years, China is doing the same in 30+years). This environment, coupled with China's identity crisis (the Communists destroyed the Chinese culture) leaves most people lost and desperate.

THE ANSWER!

Quote:
Chinese parents hire 'Iron Man' kung fu monk to guard child

A family in the south of China has hired a Shaolin monk to protect their six-year-old daughter on the way to school in the wake of a series of attacks on Chinese kindergartens.

Hu Qiong, a 38-year-old monk who began studying kung fu at the Shaolin temple aged eight, was hired by the Liu family to accompany their daughter to and from school each day, according to the Shanghai Daily newspaper.

The monk won notoriety two years ago at the China Martial Arts Stunts competition by holding a fast spinning electric drill to his head and stomach without sustaining any injuries. He also caught a running electric saw with his bare hands, winning him the nickname "Iron Man".

CNN said the guy who attacked the kids has a Property Dispute with the School

So they probably stole, or were planing to seize his land and since you can't beat the people with $$$ in china he decided to give their school a bad name

there's a billion+ people in china

that's over a billion+ possibilities of what can happen.

that's a lot more than canada. seems pretty normal to me. how many hundreds of thousands of schools do they have?

if every fucked up thing in the world was reported straight to your head, you wouldn't think the world was so fucked up, it's pretty much normal.

you can't expect 1billion people to act like good citizens.
