Daily "super" cars What would you guys consider as a daily driver but is more or less a super car? Ferrari's and such are not imho. Porsches are and such, any other opinions? My bud in hkg just bought a Maserati(after his company got acquired.) in HKG and he said so far he's daily driving it, but not sure if he should. So we got into a discussion, and i said should of picked up a porsche. Any other suggestions? |
he's got the money and you dont. let him do whatever he wants cuz its his money. This thread is such a waste of time. |
What's the logic behind not having those cars as DD's? Depreciate faster? Or cost arm and a leg to maintain? To answer your question, maybe top of the line Benz and beamers? Posted via RS Mobile |
i think all cars are for dd use..people just dont want to drive them because they dont want it to get scratched or dented by other gifted drivers..... |
I admire a "DD" super car. You're actually using what you've put money into. Better than being locked away in a garage for 360 days of the year. I always see a newer model Ford GT with Alberta plates in Burnaby. From the looks of it the person who owns it drives it daily. I've seen it on the highway on sunny, rainy, and even days with some flurries. |
I would add aston martin, bentley GT to the list. |
I think what the OP is getting at is some cars just arent made to be driven every day for over 10,000kms a year. I cant help but think real small market hand built cars would fall apart with that kind of milage. As well as some cars would be a burdon to drive that much due to ground clearance or poor visability. |
I saw a guy with a Cervelo road bike on the roof rack of his 997 the other day. It was the first time I saw a roof rack on a 911, let alone a rack with a bike on it. :lol Posted via RS Mobile |
any class of Mercedes' variants of the 65 can be considered is a daily supercar S65 / SL65 / C65 etc etc etc |
Hmm I would think given the environment (HKG) A Maserati is not a bad choice. Because Ferrari Maserati in HK are all serviced at Ferrari repair center, so it is easily serviced locally. Nothing wrong with a V8 supercar that has A/C and nice seats with paddle gearbox in HK environment I would think? Roads are relatively nice for anything supercars come equipped with too. Maserati (I'm guessing a GT?) is also a 4 seater that fits a golf club in the trunk too....kind of nice actually for DD. Maserati Quattroporte would be a very viable choice for the rich to move around town as well....And even better in practicality. Porsche is not bad either of course. The frunk is more sensible than most anticipates... The only poor choice in HK is probably oil cooled Porsches for DD because of the heat they tend to overheat a lot in HK. |
A buddy of mine daily drives his Aston Martin DB9... |

to the OP, i would say a decent DD supercar would be the 911 turbo. It is able to accommodate four people, has enough trunk space for a set of clubs, and is definitely fast enough to make it a worthy supercar. It doesn't come in just a 6speed for those who prefer a more relaxing drive as well. It looks damn nice and screams Baller status. |
R8? |

+1 to the turbos. 996 or 997 gen 911 turbos are comfy, easy to drive. forget about gallardos and murcis.. not really daily friendly cars. |
keep them coming! this list great for him. He'll take a look. Good suggestions! |

im surprised no one said R35 GT-rawr yet. |
Relatively new, but awesome car.............................. Lotus EVORA http://lifelope.com/azenis/lotusevora.jpg |
from what I've read on the 6speed online forums, the most commonly daily driven super cars are a lot of the Porsches, audi R8's and on the italian side the Gallardo, a lot of the Gallardo owners daily drive their cars, seems to be very DD friendly... once again this is from what I been readin over the last few years on 6 speed online. speakin of daily driving high end cars, I snapped these sometime last year, pissing rain and this dude was just rollin! I gave him a thumbs up, was able to pass him he was going super slow, bumpy roads.... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...1607131122.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...1607131107.jpg and here are some pictures I got from a 6 speed online thread, this guy actually bought winter tires because he was planning on using the Lambo all throughout winter, major props ! he said the year previous he drove it in wintertime with OEM tires it was pretty grippy with help of AWD, and with this current winter tire setup he said he had more grip with the Lambo than he did with his Ford truck! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...White/_034.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...White/_035.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...White/_026.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...White/_032.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...White/_033.jpg |
R8 with 6 speed manual. That would be fun to drive. |

gallardos arent that bad...... but still kinda stiff for day to day driving. the gated shifter is a bit odd, and that e-gear box is kinda clunky... not to mention blind spots... but i guess its all in the charm of supercars. |
gtr, r8, corvette, m6, .... for those with $$$ |
