Compustar insists on these fagged out teaser commercials and viral video clips instead of offering the consumer legitimate answers to their questions.
I mean my time personally would be better served if I had a bit of research time on how this product would benefit me so when it actually comes out I would have had sufficient time to make an informed decision on whether to upgrade. Currently running one of the top Compustar Pro 2 way models, so any of you guys in the auto security field have any better insight on this ?

For now, all we got is this picture, website says it's coming May 2010, it's already mid May now, still nothing... that's about as much info, but it's obvious it's gonna be app based and since I have an iPhone this would be very convenient.

Um.... I remember seeing on tv that this guy had an iphone app that runs off wifi and it can control almost everything's car. Lights, conv roof start/stop engine and even rev it.

It is coming to Canada soon, but as always, the Americans will get it first. it will do everything that any upper end tracking system will do. My favourite part is that it will text you to tell you that your car has been compromised.

An immobilizer is an option during the installation period.

Compustars estimated release date is end of June but like all release dates they may not be on time.

That being said, this product will run on Rogers Network and transmit through text messaging network 3G.

Offers commands such as lock/unlock/arm/disarm and two way paging notification just like you would on your compustar remote. Subscription is required, a small nominal fee.

You also have the option of subscribing to GPS tracking where you can instantly track your vehicle as well as geofencing. Say for example you have the basic subscription but suddenly your vehicle gets stolen or you decide you want to track, you can INSTANTLY purchase the tracking feature on your Smart Phone and start tracking right away.

iPhone application will be launched first, Blackberry application will be released in the late fall.

It can be used standalone or integrated with any new Compustar Controller (Brain Unit) that offers RS232 Port which will plug in and require little to no additional connections.

Offers a daisy chain in case your RS232 port on your Compustar Controller is already being used to communicate to bypass module so does not take up that 1 port.

Its going to be competitively price with Smart Start by DEI.

I currently have a CompuStar alarm installed, one of the top models 2W900FM-A Pro with a tilt sensor as well. Are you saying that they can intergrate Drone Mobile into my current Compustar setup or do I have to completely get rid of the one I got right now, and install Drone from scratch ??
I just spent $700 on the whole setup last year, it would be nice to save a few bucks with integration, but if not then I suppose I'll have to sell my current alarm and make some money back at least.

So what type of price are we looking at here for Drone Mobile roughly ?

You will not need to scrap your unit. It will add on! You can keep all your add ons and functions and it will add on, ontop!

Texts are usually within seconds, 5 to 10 seconds is typical for our system...

so will this basicallly completely replace the remote?
that would be nice. but i sort of like having a remote.
makes for easier access than having to unlock your phone, go to the app, start the car, etc...

^ keychain compustar remote is nice and handy but I could never figure it out, almost everytime the alarm would go off, simply pressing the #1 button would just NOT work in shutting it off, I always had to spend around 15-20 seconds fiddling around pressing the button in all different types of ways before finally silencing it, been a huge annoyance for me.

Hopefully now with the iphone interface that's gone, a simple touch will do the trick.

I really look forward to installing this on my car, I'm gonna have to password lock my iphone from now on, since i guess if someone jacks your iphone they can get inside your car, not necessarily steal it by driving off because i would still have the key with me, but getting inside is the car and disabling the alarm is enough to tow it and steal it that way

A: No, you must have a DR-1000 or compatible Drone Mobile system installed in your vehicle as well as a compatible Firstech system.


I got one of the newer CompuStar pro models already installed, so I wonder if I got this DR1000 already inside and if I'm able to start using it as soon as I download the app. I do know I need to sign up for an account if I want GPS tracking

Umm your system is COMPATIBLE with the Drone piece. You must buy the DR1000 and have it installed in addition to your already Compustar unit then download the app then subscribe.

So does this mean I can do away with the toy looking remote and just use my iPhone and my own keyfob? Any local shop that can install this on a car with own keyless entry? What happen if my phone runs out of battery will I be lock out of my own car?
