Went to get my haircut today and the salon I go to was sold and all the old staff is gone, I think I might give chop shop in Langley a try.. any other suggestions?

I'll happily pay $40+ for a haircut if they do a great job.

Has anyone been to StyleLab on Cambie?

I got a groupon for it but haven't used it yet.

kuruuze 02-06-2011 08:17 PM

I find it's cheapest just not to cut your hair, i haven't gotten a haircut since Mid-October now. I used to go to Joyce Hair Design, it's on Joyce and Crowley Dr. Ask for Jenna, It's about $20, $25 after tip. Pretty much all Korean staff there.

LookHere_Sucka 02-06-2011 08:21 PM

^Your hair would get all long, greasy, and disgusting. Nobody wants that... How well do they give cuts at Joyce Hair Design? I might try it out just because they're korean, and I kinda want a short korean style cut.

kuruuze 02-06-2011 08:28 PM

I wash and condition my hair every night so it's fine?? Yea they have some good stylists there I would recommend especially if you want a Korean-like haircut. Just make sure you don't get "Judy" (she's the Chinese lady that works there, gives your typical Chinatown haircut) or THE OWNER, typical greedy owner will mess up your hair BAD. You may have some trouble getting your point across so be prepared, Some of their English there is pretty poor.

LookHere_Sucka 02-06-2011 11:09 PM

Ahh, just like Mentor. Except Mentor is overpriced as well. Might give it a go, thanks for the info.

underground shops are quite nice, ones that are being held in houses and such, those are the ones who aren't so snobby and they let you pick what kind of hair that you want without making you feel self-conscious. atleast for some .

Ask for the daughter.

Oh and it is not the Suki's that has multiple locations. This is a family owned place.

i gave them a try a few days ago and got the daughter to cut my hair. (very friendly)
they are great! the place is nothing fancy, but if you need a basic cut done, this would be the place!

i use to go to misako for a basic mens cut and would pay almost $40 to get a hair cut + shampoo twice a month, just because i've been going there forever...i'm definitely changing to suki's, $10 a cut, $20, $24 including tips a month, few blocks from where i live, i'm sold!

+1 for Athens in in Metrotown, also there is a great barbershop in Old Orchard Plaza in Burnaby

yuusha 02-26-2011 07:26 PM

Just went to suki's in south granville, hiroshi cut my hair. Expensive as hell but worth it, probably best in town for asian hair style.

Anyone know a good place that cuts asian hair in Langley or Abbotsford?
Nothing fancy just a 0.5 fade on the side and back and a cut and thin out on the top.
Sounds simple but you won't believe how many times the person cutting my hair not get it right because they are not familiar with "asian hair".

+1 for joyce, is jenna the chick with dyed blondish hair and the only one that speaks a moderate amount of english? I get it cut from her too.
