All of that donation BS is just that.. BS.

I'm not against donating to people in need as long as I can be assured that the money is being spent appropriately. I have no problem donating a paycheque to Angolan orphans if it helps educate them or spend an hours salary on a first aid kid for Haiti.

But, in reality, my money would end up in the pockets of advertising reps, oil execs, and project co-ordinators.

In order for a charity to truly successful people need to be willing to donate their time and resources if they're involved with a charity. Donation costs should go to raw materials and not to tv slots.

Not sure where you get this impression, but a charity is just like any other organization and they have bills to pay too. Like full-time staff, utilities, and property.

Thats true, but some charities go overboard with spending, ie-renting expensive office space downtown or having high overhead costs...or six figure salaries for managers... A well managed not for profit organization will keep these costs to a minimum.

Right. I would be rich if I was getting paid what I get paid now, while living in Eastern Europe, Africa, or some 3rd World Country.

If you live in a house/apartment and can afford a cell phone, internet and a few meals outside, you're pretty rich compared to a lot of people around the world.
