911fanatic vs Avalanche

This client contacted me after recently purchasing this Avalanche. Seems it looked great until the sun came out and even his mom commented on how bad it looked! As this was to be his daily driver, we opted to do the best we could with a single stage polish as a two stage was out of the question economically. I have been using my PC7424 for all single stages lately as it allows me to use a more aggressive pad/polish combo without having to go around and clean up any potential marring or hologramming. Even on black, I can get great results with a heavy polishing or compounding pad and a polish like Power Finish. The goal here was not to make the paint perfect, but to make it look as good as possible. We achieved between 80-90% correction in the end and even in the direct sun. only the worst of the RDS were visible. The client did a very good job washing it before bringing it in so I just gave it a quick bath and got it inside. It was clayed with a few clays we are testing and then I got straight to polishing.

Total time - approx 12 hours.

The Avalanche upon arrival.

The ever popular dealer installed "kaleidoscope paint" option

Oh, the horror!

Wetsanding marks after the dealership removed a scratch for him. Thanks guys!

AWESOME!

This just keeps getting better. A few RDS for you as well.

After a couple test runs, I chose GI Yellow with Power Finish with my PC7424 and this was the result on most panels.

Some panels were really bad like this and required two hits or I just went to GI White and Power Finish.

Pillars were grey.

Rear 1/4 done.

Rear door done. Just a wee bit of an improvement, eh?

Afters with 2 coats of Colli 845.

Doggamn! That's worse than the job they did on my mom's Acura CSX!

Good save Ken! See you tomorrow, most likely.

A step ladder? Do 1/2 side, then other side.

Excellent job as always!
