PDA?????

So my dad have this personal organizer thing he had for the past 10 years. It broke and I want to get him a new one for father's day. The problem is from what I can see almost all pda I see nowadays are either combine into a smartphone or touchscreen. He is an old school guy, he doesn't want his organizer to have phone function and touch screen. He wants an actually qwerty keyboard. functions he need are address book, calendar and notes.

I do realize any modern phone can do the above, the phone he has right now can do all that but he still like to keep his info separate from the phone like the old days.

Where can I find something like this? I know the as seen on tv store in landsdown has something like that but where can I have bigger selection. I'm looking to spent around 100$ any suggestions?

One of those Taiwanese pocket dictionary/PDA/EverythingElse would be perfect (if he reads chinese of course).. Not sure where you'd get one in Vancouver though

I would like to visit a brick and mortar store so if my dad don't like it he can go exchange it for one he likes. And I hinted at the tranlstor things to my dad before he didn't like it. Too many functions he said.

You mean one of these?

I think the Pocket Organizers have kinda disappeared with the advent of cell phones. Even the most basic of cell phones have a built in calendar and address book. I haven't seen one of those organizers in years, although my dad still uses one to this day.

Parker Place, there's a place that sells translators and electric dictionaries there.

You're looking for a PDA that absolutely has to have a QWERTY keyboard?

I got two PDAs collecting dust from before I got a smartphone... but the keyboard is touchscreen, don't know if you'd be interested. If you are, feel free to PM me I can show you the specs and give you my honest testimony on problems.

Thanks!

HP still makes PDAs ... No QWERTY keyboards, though.

Palm, Dell, Sony, etc. have all discontinued their PDAs.

Seriously though, how can it have TOO MANY features? Just don't use the features you don't need. You're asking for a very specific thing that probably no longer exists. So the only solution is either

1) Buy a real PDA with a keyboard, like a Nokia or Blackberry
2) Go back 10 years in time and buy an old PDA with no features
3) Buy one of those whacky asian pocket dictionaries
4) Buy a used PDA from 10 years ago (but then it'll break down just like his current one did)
5) Pencil and paper, old school

Funny enough, I have a Texas Instruments organizer very similar to the one pictured there... just dug it out of a scrap drawer and was putting it into the box of stuff for the yard sale. It needs batteries, but AFAIK, it works...

threezero, drop me a PM if you're interested...

edit: Here it is: A TI PS-6560i

Oh yeah, I also have an older Blackberry around here somewhere... the thing with using a smartphone is, you don't have to use the phone - you can use JUST the organizer functions.
