Told ya so. Why people felt sorry for this genius is beyond me.
It's like having a guy say "Hey guys! Let's go drop acid and then try to play pattycake with some fucking tigers!" and then everyone blames the tigers. Quote:

physic's final question for the class:
If the student was 70kg and he fell at the gravitational force of 9.8m/s how long would he take to reach the bottom of the capilano bridge?

In addition to the lady that dropped her baby on the bridge, it had everyone discussing the safety of the site and a contingent of people was proposing to increase fence and railing heights well above an average person's height. (Which of course destroy's the novelty of "the suspension bridge" and one of Vancouver's trademark tourist site)
Point being that unless you take LSD and "purposely" fuck around, The Capilano Suspension Bridge is a safe attraction and there is no need to beef up safety features like a Mental Institution Padded Room.
All in all, it's just to keep the "knee-jerk-sudden-know-it-alls" in check. Kind of like the contingent of impromptu engineers that thought they could've designed a better Olympic Louge Track that killed Nodar Kuravitashvili. Or the people who freaked out Canada spent $35 million on the new F35's.

It has to do with aerodynamics (drag coefficient) of the body and the distance fallen. Without the distance given, you can't solve for time.
And it's 9.8 m/s ^2.
Sorry I couldn't resist.

Originally Posted by civicboi17 its 70 meters LOLOL finish the equation! | Sure. vf^2 = vi^2 + 2ad. We'll use 9.81 for gravity.
vf^2 = 0^2 + 2(9.81)(70) = 1373.4. Solve for vf = 37.0594m/s.
Since vf = vi + at, t = (vf - vi) / a, or 37.0594 / 9.81 = 3.777s. Of course, this is assuming there's no aerodynamic drag.
Once you add aerodynamic drag, you start bringing calculus into the formula. Since drag Fd = 1/2(rho)(U^2)(Cd)(A) you'd need more information such as the drag coefficient of the body, as well as the cross-sectional area. This would give you the acceleration as a function of time ie a(t). Integrate twice to get the distance as a function of time, then solve for 70m. I admit I'd have to dig up my fluids textbook to solve this. It's actually a bit tricky because you are using a function of time (velocity) to solve for acceleration (also a function of time).
Maybe I should go to sleep.
