I heard from a friend that the Auto-collision teacher gets like $80,000+ a year for just going to school and watering flowers.

I dont mind them, those instructors are top notch in their field. Most of them gave up high paying job and teaches in BCIT.
BCIT is probably a steady and much easiser job, but they are good nonetheless

from 90k to 142k is the average.
my instructor was one of the highest paid in 08 with 2xx,xxx
