Tire size for 18x9 wheel?

Hai guiz, might be getting some new wheels but need to know what tire size I should run.

I'm currently running 18x8.5 +35 with a 225/40/18 tire, with a slight stretch
(pic at bottom for reference)

Does anyone have shots of an 18x9 wheel with that tire size?
Will it be a much more noticeable stretch, or very minimal difference?
Or would I be better off going with a 235 for more sidewall flex?

Thanks

im running 235 on 9.5 and you've seen mine before.. its somewhat of a strech but its .5 bigger than 9

I'd check a 2007+ SE-R specific forum for max tire width that will fit (turning radius) and go with that. 9 inches is pretty wide!

I dont have any doubt that we can fit 18x9, our wheel wells are pretty large.
We use the same chassis as the rogue I believe.

But on other sentra sites there is only one guy I know of running a staggered 18x9 +12 with 18x10 +40 rear..something along those lines. Much more aggressive than my potential new wheel setup.

Thanks for the pics james, I'll check out that site

^ oh come on Coach, I drove from here to Montreal on 245/35 low pros on a 10" wide

and if I can do that you can definitely put 215's on a 9, especially with a 40 series tire, higher sidewall is safer too. Just make sure you get the proper offsets though.

my new wheels are 10.5 front with 245/35/20 and 12.5 rear with 275/35/20, and that's going on a 3700 pound car, and you can't put 215 on a 9 ?

come onnnnn, doooooo eeeetttt Yamanashi dares youuuuuuu !! :haha:

Well another reason I dont want TOOO skinny of a tire is because I dont want to increase wheel gap lol

jing 06-10-2010 03:31 PM

You're on coilovers aren't you? Problem solved =P

Captain Bondo 06-10-2010 05:51 PM

I have 235/40 on 9" wide rims up front and they're just barely stretched. Just enough to keep them from squirming.

IMO 235 may be the perfect width for a 9" rim.

jing 06-10-2010 10:32 PM

It's too high if it doesn't scrape

!Yaminashi 06-10-2010 10:56 PM

ANYWAY, keep this on topic

DasHooch 06-10-2010 11:24 PM

On topic: I'd go wider than 235. Whatever it can handle, not sure who can tell you that though.

I use 235 on 8" wide on the older smaller chassis. When it comes down to it you want more rubber on the road. Sounds like you can squeeze your tires onto the new wheels if you don't want to shell out yet.
