I've seen an Accord in Williams Lake with 850,000km, it belonged to someone who worked a couple days a week on the coast and the rest of the week up there.

Now.. if they could just figure out their transmissions..

!oHenry 10-25-2010 11:15 AM

My 88 prelude is going to hit 333, 333 soon. Its not that much considering the age, but still, Thats 3 and 1/3 timing belt intervals :O

Nothing wrong with Honda standard transmissions - among the smoothest gearboxes in the business.

I like Hondas, but there is a known BMW E30 that has a million miles on its original engine. Like most things, cars were built to last in the 70s and 80s.

JDMGhost 11-01-2010 08:19 PM

my 93 EG has 353000 original kms on it and it runs amazing. same stock D15B7 in it and everything. and i run this car pretty hard and shes still haulin ass.

I'm not sure if they still do, but I know for a few years starting in 1997, Honda sub-contracted their transmissions to GM. Thats when the transmissions really started going down hill, but prior to that they were great!

EDIT: I was passed the info on GM manufacturing Honda Transmissions from another member, but upon research I haven't been able to back up their claims.

Wow! My 8th gen accord, already @ 85xxx km on it. Purchased 2008. Just a battery changed @ 23k km.

My 95 teg's got 245k on it, not all that much.

However, My first car, a 87 volvo 740 wagon had 475,000 on original motor and trans before i scrapped her, motor was a bit tired, trans didn't like reverse hot, and the body rusted out. I miss that car for camping!

wolfcalibur 11-05-2010 12:50 PM

an old caprice cab i had was well over million k on it, ran on propane, tranny was on its last legs. still ran like a dream tho.!

I guess that explains the horrible tiptronics that came out in 97.

No source, no claim. "Some other member said_____ " is not a source.

jasonturbo 11-08-2010 11:18 AM

In Edmonton, there is a 1986 civic hatch, with 1.5 million KM on original motor and trans :o

He actually rolls around in the little brown hatch with big stickers on the doors saying "1500000"

EF9SIR 06-08-2011 01:57 AM

My old Ef has got 480K when I sold it...

terryjai 06-17-2011 11:32 AM

my 89 had 500k on it when i sold it....still runs strong

Phil@rise 06-17-2011 01:03 PM

Pffft! My Ford Bronco has 390xxxkm's on the original motor and headgaskets no synthetic fluids either.
It still runs smooth as new and uses no oil. Most any vehicle that hasn't been abused and maintained well will get 300+ km's.
