Since we're in gangscouver, you could get shot if you don't move over. Goodluck to everyone.

shenmecar 06-15-2010 08:55 AM

i got tailgated this morning, i was in the left lane. So i moved to the right lane. Then she changed lane again to tail me. Then she change lane into the hov lane to pass me. (hov lane is curb lane). Quite wtf?

This is a pass or be passed society.

EmperorIS 06-15-2010 11:22 AM

i'm more concerned about that bitch that doesn't shoulder check when changing lane
or the dipshit not stopping fully at stop signs on a 4 way stop

GabAlmighty 06-15-2010 11:47 AM

Tailgaters eventually get brake checked in my books. And my runner can stop fairly good when it wants to.

defensive driving, learn it

The worst is the idiots that tailgate in the FUCKING RIGHT LANE..
When I'm going slower than the speed of traffic I always move over to the right if possible.

Then some idiot comes along with the LEFT LANE wide open and tailgates me...like where the fuck you expect me to go you prick?..

Anyway, its funny when they finally get tired of this and move to the left to pass me, so I just stay in the right, give it some gas so they look like a tool

q0192837465 06-15-2010 12:01 PM

most tailgaters r noobs anyways. I get tailgated all the time. But these tailgaters can't handle any curves. I just maintain my speed on a bend & they disappear really quickly,

Oleophobic 06-15-2010 12:08 PM

I've tried to be courteous (too courteous actually) driving down the highway one time going 110 (speed limit 90), right lane was going maybee 100? It was during a time when traffic was quite busy though it was still flowing smoothly.

Anyway I thought the guy behind seemed like he might want to go a bit faster (maybe 115 or 120) so I changed to the right lane to let him pass.
Big mistake, now I'm stuck in the right lane doing 100 (had to now slow down), and I can't switch back to the left until the wave of cars pass doing my original speed because it's too dangerous to switch back given their slightly faster speed plus not much of a gap between cars.

Moral of the story, if you're in the left lane keeping up with traffic, there's no point moving over unless you really want to drive slower....
if you're the FIRST car at the front however, I can see that can be a different story...but then I usually end up catching up to the next pack of cars

on city streets....I've been tailgated in both lanes before, but nothing aggressive. In fact, every time I am driving in the left lane in the city, UNLESS I decide to go 50, I don't see how anyone can tell if they are holding up another person. Too many stops, traffic lights, and traffic in front to even notice this. That's why I can see why there are people who mistakenly think the left lane rule doesn't apply in the city. Because there is hardly a lot of chance for it to be used effectively if you have lots of traffic lights and stops.

In the past, one time I was in a hurry driving 70, only to be stuck behind someone doing 60. I was an idiot and was angry, but now then he turned left a couple blocks down. It's so stupid to road rage if someone's already doing 60 in the city in the left with plenty of traffic in both lanes.

Get off the roads if you can't control your anger.
Seriously. Just pass on the right or if you can't, just suck it up.
Shit happens, and being slowed down for 30 seconds is probably the most harmless of all things other motorists can do to you.

this is why I have "0" empathy when I see someone come in the office with 75% Surcharge on their insurance. NONE

CP.AR 06-15-2010 08:26 PM

If you tailgate me in the leftlane I will move over for you. If you tailgate me in the right lane, I will speed up, catch up with another car and leave just enough room so you can't cut in traffic.

d1 06-15-2010 08:28 PM

I rarely get tailgaited but even when I do it doesn't bother me too much - I need a new bumper anyways.

Left lane hoggers are bigger assholes imo because they are being assholes without even knowing it. At least the tailgater knows he's a fag.. the left lane hoggers are oblivious to everything around them and when they get honked or given a stare down they'll be like "what's his problem?" :fuuuuu:

Sometimes people just Rant.

I was pulling away from a traffic light there was a semi-trailer in the right/travel lane and one car ahead of me in the left.I notice the guy in the Aveo ahead of me waving his arms and ranting,I figured he was having car troubles so I waited for him to pull into the right/travel lane. After about 1/2 kilometer he wasn't pulling over and the semi was picking up speed ,I decided to go around him.He was waving he arms and yelling at me and then proceeded to flash his lights after I passed.I wasn't tailgating other than the fact we were both stopped at the same light and I knew once we got far enough ahead of the semi ,I was going to pull into the travel lane if he didn't,so I wasn't riding his bumper impatiently. In fact ,I was driving away slow enough ,to watch as guy in the Aveo ranted and flashed his lights at every other vehicle that went by him in the right/travel lane.
Some people are just asshats.

If that's the case, he obviously wants to take it personal or something. There's no reason to tail gate anyone
going 70+. Even 60 should be acceptably "tailgate free" speed.

agreed

Try driving through the city on the major arteries like main, kingsway, broadway, 1st ave, etc... in the left lane going 60-65 and tell me how often you find yourself in a situation where you should move over because "you're going too slow for the guy behind you and he's pissed."

NEVER gonna happen. That speed is pretty much 99% tailgate safe.

What you'll find, however, is that the left lane law doesn't work well in the city, due to: traffic lights, left turners, constantly catching up to traffic further ahead (either because they stopped for a light up ahead, or cars that have turned onto your street).

There really shouldn't be much of a discussion about this about city streets.
it should be about the highway instead.

Mr.HappySilp 06-17-2010 06:47 AM

I am sorry but the law put a speed limit on for a reason. If anyone is going with the speed limit regardness of how open the road is they can do it and do not deverse any tailgaters. If you tailgaters wants to go faster thant he speed limit then change lane and go as fast as you like.

Why make someone break the law with you? 50km'h means 50km/h it does not mean hey I can go 70km/h now becasue is all open road whoever is not doing it is a dumbass lol.

The point is if you are doing the speed limit in the left lane, move over.
