US TV ratings for game 1 are in and they are great!

BEST STANLEY CUP GAME 1 OVERNIGHT IN 12 YEARS

Game 1 Up 14% Over Last Year’s Philadelphia-Chicago Game 1

Boston Leads All Metered Markets with a 25.5 Rating & 39 Share

NEW YORK – June 2, 2011 — Last night’s Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, which featured the Vancouver Canucks defeating the Boston Bruins, 1-0, produced the best overnight rating for a Game 1 in 12 years. The broadcast generated a 3.2 overnight rating and 6 share up 14 percent compared to last year’s Game 1 (Philadelphia-Chicago, 2.8/6) and the best overnight for a Game 1 since 1999 (Buffalo vs. Dallas, 3.7 on Fox).

Boston was the top-rated market on the night with a 25.5/39, the highest-rated NHL game in Boston dating back to at least 1995, and topping the Boston rating for last year’s NBA Finals Game 1 featuring the Celtics-Lakers (19.1/34).
This is the first Stanley Cup Final featuring a Canadian team since the Ottawa Senators faced the Anaheim Ducks in 2007. The 3.2 overnight for last night’s game is 113 percent higher than the first network broadcast of that series (1.5/3 for Game 3).
Top Metered Markets For Game 1

1. Boston, 25.5/39
2. Providence, 16.7/24
3. Buffalo, 7.2/11
4. Hartford, 5.5/8
5. Pittsburgh, 4.3/7

Anyone know why Raffi's nickname is Tico?

Also, I guess there won't be any post game locker room celebration vids for the SCFs.

Proof: If you go look at the boxscore you will notice David Krejci got a cross checking penalty at 4mins in the 2nd which is exactly when this hit occured.

Yeah, after Hamhuis fell down, Krejci gave him a soft crosscheck while he was down.
A soft penalty in my opinion, but on the same play prior to that, some guy was crosschecking one of the Sedins along the boards about 5 or 6 times in a row, and there was no call.
Maybe a makeup call.

I think Tico means mexican or costa rican or something, which I guess makes sense since he's half mexican?

Gumby 06-02-2011 10:48 AM

I agree with the no suspension decision, but Burrows should have gotten a fine, IMO. It helped that the linesman basically said to Bergeron "you put your finger in there..."

It's a coincidence that Burrows, Bergeron, and Racicot are all French!

I think Burrows should've got a $2500 fine.

but I will take no disciplinary action. :fuckyea:

Can't fine for something that didn't happen.

shawn79 06-02-2011 11:18 AM

The ref is right, if u put ur finger in somebody's mouth chances are they are gonna bite it, natural instincts. Hockey players are the toughest atheles around, dont expect them to suck on it and keep their mouth shut. Bruins making it a big deal out of it because they are scared of burrows.

Shannahan did a good job making the right call. Deal with it

Shanny doesn't start his new job until next season. Mike Murphy is in charge right now

The Playoff Scarves were always $10 taxes in. The Canucks wanted to create the same hype as the red mittens during the Olympics. The PROBLEM was they only ordered 10, 000 of them, that's not even enough for 1 per fan per game.

You're correct that scarves and towels were given away briefly at lunch hour but the Canucks never had to mark down these scarves. They've sold two other styles for more during the year and they are much better quality.
