Do you even know what you're talking about?

Rogers would buy out the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan's 66% stake in MLSE @ ~1.3 BILLION

They'll own the Maples Leafs, Marlies, Raptors, and Toronto FC. They already own The Blue Jays so they'll essential have the biggest sports ownership group in North America.

There are also a lot of people from within Rogers pushing for the NFL to Toronto. If they succeed in this bid then that is a very real possibility.

Coincidentally, that was the final Jeopardy question yesterday. The category was Sports, and the question was something like "The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan owns this sports team".

i figured the share would have been the other portion not the teachers pension plans stake, i'd be suprised if they gave that up even at a billion you would think long term revenue for somthing like the pension plan would be greater than a sale of their majority

spoon.ek9 12-01-2010 11:37 AM

FINALLY! a game today :D

i realllllly hope the guys aren't slow out of the gate after a 5 day break between games

LOL does it not? Every year when I get them I just put it aside because there really isn't any need for it. I'll always have internet access whether at work, home, or phone to see the schedule the pocket schedule was really useless.

The reason why they want to sell is because they believe they have already maximized all possible "revenue growth" at MLSE. Meaning while they do make profits each year they don't believe these profits will grow by any significant margin. Keep in mind they will still keep all real estate holdings of MLSE even with the sale.

If they sell for 1.3 billion that money can still go towards other investments. OTPP has shares in many companies.
