TSN question on FB: "We are fairly certain the Sedin Twins are 76% Robotic. But 100% Awesome. That said - Is This The Year For The Vancouver Canucks?"

the only mistake gillis made was trading grabner instead of raymond or else we would have a clean sweep of all the trophies

Expresso 03-28-2011 08:37 AM

Did anyone catch the Team this morning? Did Mike Babcock take a knock at Luongo or something?

Bandwagoners piss me off because generally these "fans" are the first ones to say "omggg the Canucks suckkkk" when they don't win a cup

This happens pretty much every single year..during/nearing the playoffs, the fan base increases but I can see why, everybody wants to watch the playoffs, see their city win the cup. I think we should be used to this, plus.. more fans is always better until they start pouting retarded facts.... thats a different... story

Gumby 03-28-2011 08:53 AM

The thing about our newest "fan" is that his first post comes out of left field, stating that Malhotra is getting a glass eye - quoting CDC of all sources!

Woulda shoulda coulda - there's no saying he would have done as well here as he is in Long Island. Gillis could have traded Raymond to a team where he'd thrive while Grabner might have ended up on the fourth line here and you'd be saying "the only mistake gillis made was trading raymond instead of grabner".

As it stands, Raymond is a good fit with the team - we don't know if that was the case with Grabner. Right now, it's obvious the whole team has amazing chemistry on and off the ice, and we know that's a big part of what Gillis was going for - maybe the deciding factor was how well each one fit in with everyone else?

Sure, that's speculation... no more so than thinking Grabner WOULD have been better here than Raymond.

Besides, the awards aren't decided yet... Schneider is a good candidate for the Calder as well, and those two are about the only ones really in the running. Keep in mind that the biggest obstacle to Schneid's chances, as the pundits like to point out, is that Western players don't get the same kind of exposure with the Eastern-based media who do the voting - if Grabner was here, he'd have the same obstacle.

Spidey 03-28-2011 08:58 AM

I still think Grabner is overrated... Any player that is playing top line mins will produce. We al knew Grabner was talented, he just didn't fit in Vancouver. There was not way he was cracking the top 2 lines in Vancouver. Secondly, he is playing in the EAst.. enough said.

I'm getting pretty tired of hearing people say trading Grabner wa a mistake blah blah blah. Like you mentioned Gillis knew Grabner has some skills but he just didn't fit. On top of that do people not understand that you need to give something to get something. Florida wasn't going to just give us Ballard and Oreo for nothing.

Grabner is a good player and so is Raymond...

but whats with Raymond this year, im truly dissapointed. he is got great speed, but he gotta learn to stop running around like a fly and lose the puck everytime he is rushing.

Split decision between Erhoff and Yandle? It's going to my boy LUBO!

Tim Budong 03-28-2011 10:51 AM

Grabner may be a good player, but two things caused his demise in Vancouver.

Work Ethic, didn't most feel that it just was not fair, he was given the chance to shine in his few years here. He didn't respond to them

2nd, he comes into training camp unprepared. and once again, Training camp is where he needed to step out. Clearly, at the beginning of his years as a canuck, him and raymond were battling for a spot. Guess who won that?

Needless to say, Grabner became just an asset to the team. Grabner showed up to FLA camp once again, unprepared. He probably knows that the islanders were going to be his last chance to stay.

Just heard Mullin talking to Dan Murphy in Nashville, Murph says Hammer is feeling a lot better today and hopes to be back soon... he noted that he only missed 5 games the last concussion, and a total of 8 for his two previous ones, so he seems to recover pretty quickly.

Mullin also pointed out that if Chicago beats Detroit tonight, we officially take 1st in the conference.
