1994 accord ex problems

So my accord had been periodically starting for about a second then dieng by itself, usually after a couple of hours it would fire right up and run good. Weird thing is when it was acting up we took the #1 plug out to check for spark and it fired up, and when we shut it off and put the plug back in it would start and run fine, so we took it for a test drive and a couple minutes around the block the speedometer and the tach needles started to jump and the clock turned of....this craziness lasted for a second then it ran fine again. So we got home turned it of tried firing it up again and it started for a second then died....so today we swapped distributors with my dads accord (its a 94 to) and this time around the engine wouldn't even start for a bit......and while i was inside the house browsing forums for this type of problem my dad said he took all the plugs out b/c he thought it was flooded and when he cranked it a crap load of water or maybe antifreeze shot outta the #1 cylinder.......so we are stumped and hopefully someone on here can help point us in the right direction

Thanks,
gdhillon

kinda hard to diagnose something like that on the internet.

at first thought it sounds like a main relay problem as that would cause intermittent starting issues.

the needle jumping is related to your ignition coil/module as that reads the rpm

as for the water shooting out that you'd have to be a lot more specific.

anyways i'd check the main relay first (take it apart and look at the solder and see if the joints are cracked and just resolder it yourself) is usually the common problem related to starting issues.
