Yes, because I think the world is not coming to an end in 2012, I am dumb. Good one, you got me.

No I agree with u in that this isn't the end of the world.
However, what does 2012 mean? Do you even know where they discovered the calendar?
None of you have ever research the topic and are quick to give fail points as soon as the words are mentioned, dismissing the possibility of any serious discussion.
So if ignorance is the new intellect, then I will gladly stay dumb.

Natural disasters have been occuring since the dawn of the time. The difference nowawadays is internet + youtube = making the world feel smaller.

Back then, earthquakes, tornadoes, oil spills from other parts of the world would all just be 1 page article in a nespaper or a 30 second blip on your TV news;

Also, why the fixation on 2012.

People thought the end of the world was in the 60's (Cuban missile crisis)
Poeple thought the end of the world was in the 90's (Gulf far will bring WW3)
People thought the end of the world was in the 00's (Y2K)
People thought the end of the world was in the 09's (Large Hadron Collider)
People thought the end of the world was in the 10's (BP Oil Spill)
People thought the end of the world was in the 12's (Movie: 2012)

All this is an indication of is that majority of humankind is stupid. As you can see, the latter reasoning just becomes more stupid as it goes.

Once 2012 passes and the world doesn't end, people will look for another date and will find an even more dumber reason on why it will end.

So, in all seriousness, why not tell us? You posted up a vague question which by now you must know very few people take seriously.

Tell us what you think and what you've found, and see where that takes you/us.

Just looking back. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but did I miss a couple of "asteroid" incidents that were supposedly supposed to end the world too?

The Mayan calandar ends at 2012 because they didnt want to tie up their cash in keeping stock of calandars up to the year 3000.

really, what country/civilization made calandars that far ahead? Thats right no one.

do you know how much space a 3 ton stone calandar weighs? Not to mention nobody had money for them.

the guy who made their calandar probably said:

"Ah fuck it, i'll just do it up to 2012. We'll see how much business these white guys in funny hats will bring, then I'll start on 2013 and on."

damn, speaking of 2012, my mom and her "friends" firmly believed that the "stars will align" and it'll be the end. She's stocking up food and water as we speak. I tried reasoning with her but her head is hard as a rock. I have to hear her stories all the time as if her "friends" have everything figured out. FML.

CP.AR 06-21-2010 01:07 PM

I really don't get why people stock up on food and water when they hear that "the world will end". when the world ends, everything on earth is supposed to be wiped out - including your stupid shelters and food supplies.

End of story

the world ended 3000 years ago. We are just a figment of your souls imagination as it roams through the vast pit that is space.
