Patent filings in Japan by Honda suggest that the automaker is working on a new roadster to take over where the Honda S2000 left off
Oh boy 8,000-9,000 RPM F20/K20 + Electric motor for low rpm torque... this is gonna be sweet.

even exotics will eventually move into the hybrid territory (porsche 918, F599)
don't be so narrow-minded

satek 06-25-2010 08:35 AM

Mid engined? Doesn't look like there's a lot of room in there.

it's an artist sketch from like more than a year back before they filed this patent

Evolutionian 06-25-2010 08:41 AM

lets hope honda doesnt make the same mistake toyota does.. giving up sports cars for the economy crap.. cheap plastic.. etc.

Mugen EvOlutioN 06-25-2010 08:53 AM

^

with their new design, it sure seems that way

Tegra_Devil 06-25-2010 08:58 AM

everyone will need too accept ALL sports cars and super cars will ONE DAY be hybrid/full electric.

jmvdesign 06-25-2010 09:09 AM

Ferrari and Lamborghini have plans to release hybrid products in the coming years.

shenmecar 06-25-2010 09:11 AM

front mounted mid engine? as long as the engine is between the two axles, it is "in the middle of the car" so its mid-engined, just like the original s2k

marc0lishuz 06-25-2010 04:13 PM

Rendering from Autocar UK is a bit more mid-engine friendly

Mid engined golf cart wft???:haha::haha::haha:

saveth 06-25-2010 04:57 PM

if its anything like the crz its gonna fail. I hope its a real sports car first and environmentally friendly second.

XtC-604 06-25-2010 05:23 PM

i wouldn't mind if it was a 2.0L f20c in that thing coupled with an IMA (integrated motor assist) for instantaneous torque, then have the engine kick in at like 3.5k all the way till 9k for some mad vtak. Car must be <2900lbs, and be able to run low offset wheels without over fenders/ replacements.

twitchyzero 06-25-2010 07:57 PM

maybe by then you can buy AP2's for like 13k haha

JoshuaWong 06-25-2010 08:18 PM

If this is true, the Honda obviously gotta get their head checked.

NSX Successor -> HSV = FR?
S2000 Successor -> = MR ?

I think it would make more sense if the HSV was a hardcore on steriod successor to the S2000 and leave the MR platform for NSX

I don't know if its just me, a Mid Engine sports car that is from Honda and not called a NSX is awkward.

tofu1413 06-25-2010 09:36 PM

Dont forget the honda beat!
