There are no sponsors here that carry it and no smaller retailer.

You already know the reason silly!

As a small car audio retailer we have the ability and choice to select products to sell and install. Because we are experienced and have been around for many, many years, we base our selections on severeal key factors: Price, quality, relaiability, ease of install and of course product support. I have carried DEI products in the past and none of these key factors were met to my satisfaction except maybe one. The price.

Even then, the price differences between similar alarm systems were pretty minimal. We're talking $10-20 less max for a product that performs in a similar manner. The big box stores look at the bottom line which is price. So DEI gets their vote and they sell a lot of them. At the other end of things, Compustar only selects certain retailers to carry some of their higher end product because of the more complex installation that is required.

Ultimately it is up to the consumer to choose between price and service. Time and time again we see angry customers that have been treated poorly as a result of poor product, poor service or a questionable install and 90% of the time its from a larger retail chain. Of course not all big box store installers are bad - you just have to sift through them to find the good ones.
