If you checked the box for it on your income tax and you don't qualify they'll send you a letter saying that you make too much money. Or you haven't filed your taxes lol.

After July 2012?

I'd figure I probably won't really get it after I finish school next spring so will probably vote againist it.

I think you would only get the GST portion of it then.

xpl0sive 07-08-2011 02:07 PM

whats the cut off in annual income for one to receive a cheque?

tiger_handheld 07-08-2011 02:19 PM

if the HST was abolished, in 2012 -- you would get a GST return.

You get a refund either way.

i-vtecyo 07-08-2011 03:57 PM

that's up $130 annually :woot:

Weird thing is that some of my family had their letter stating they were not eligble for HST yet they still recieved 90ish quarterly (HST & climate tax)

I just cashed my tax refund cheque today from 3 months ago haha

satek 07-09-2011 11:05 AM

This page shows what rebate you'll get relative to the income you earn:
GST/HST Credit: Guideline Table effective July 2011 - June 2012 (2010 tax year)

If you are single, you will get something if you make up to $40k net per year, not too hard for many people even with established careers.

If you are married without kids, it only goes up to $43k net COMBINED per year. So for most newly weds where both are working, it is pretty tough to qualify for the HST rebate (which was the same with GST rebate in all fairness).

twitchyzero 07-09-2011 05:17 PM

^ i wander if there's a similar chart for BC HST/Climate control tax whatever
