| Where to Get a Budget Paint Job?
Hi,
I just got my hands on a '95 Miata for under $1k, and so you can see why it needs a paint job...
I've already done all the bondo and prep work, I just need to get a cheap spray of single-stage gloss black paint. I called Maaco, and they want $600 +tax... Definitely a little more than what I'd like to pay.
If I can't get it done professionally, I'm going to do it myself , but I'd prefer not to have to.
So, where do you suggest I call for descent BUDGET paint job, anywhere in the lower mainland?
Cheers,
J

If you don't agree to Maaco's price, I doubt you would go to a regular bodyshop.
$600 to paint a whole car is a good deal. Not to mention, if you want single stage, you better get that done soon as it won't be available for much longer.

wow that seems cheap, i called Ivan's on commercial for front skirt and sides to get painted for $300 itself.
however, i dont know what the major difference of single spray and what a regular paint job is.
is single spray just spraying your panels and no sanding to take off old paint?
anyone explain?

not sure what synthetic paint is but acrylic enamel is like a plasticy texture and it would be still in good condition 5 years down the road.

not too sure either, but I gave them a call and the difference in price for the total job was $200 for the synthetic and acrylic, acrylic being more expensive.
btw op, which maaco did you call.
i asked langley maaco and for a car they quoted $800 but that is with synthetic enamel, single stage, and only outer body. like door wells etc would cost extra

I've always been under the impression that a good paint job isnt cheap, and a cheap paint job isnt good ?

If you want cheap, take a can of spray paint and do it yourself.

I've decided to paint it myself. A guy out at Lordco who really knows his sh*t set me up with a great deal on paint etc. He gave me some code for contractors so all in with a gun, 3 gallons of paint (of "good" quality), primer for the bondo, and all of the other equipment necessary I'm out the door for $180! Great deal.

7 Years isn't bad though, you should be fine. It's an acura so I think they have pretty withstanding paint.
