| In need of inspiration - Detailing a white car
I detail cars as a leisure activity. However, I haven't detailed my car in well over 2 years because it's white. It feels like little pleasure is derived after hours of work when doing a white car. Swirls are hard to see before hand and as a result, I question whether I should spend hours upon hours on it. Just keep putting it off instead.
Since there are many great detailers here, I'm looking for some inspirational before/after shots of white cars after some compound/polish work.
Kev

the thing with detailing a white car is after you are done you are probably going to be the only one that notice the difference most people would just think "oh you wash your car" or at best "nice wax job". where as with a darker car people are so use to seeing swirl up one when a properly detailed one show up, oh they can tell.

Not true my friend. When that GTi up top rolled in it was in very good condition. After a single stage polish and some Gloss-it sealant, it was stunning. Even a single stage polish will dramatically enhance white.

Ken, those look great. My car is really missing that wet look. Do you have any 50/50 compound vs untouched shots?

but not for rims | You can use the DG Metal Polish or Optimum Metal Polish for wheels. I'm assuming its an aluminum lip you are polishing. |

Kev | Believe it or not, the only car out of those that was polished was the GTi. All the others were only clayed and sealed. White is very hard to get 50/50s on. I'll see what I have. |

I have a white car, if you do all the steps and maintain it with a good sealant and wax it looks great in the sun especially if u contrast the paint with a good tire shine and trim shine (if you have black trim on the car), during twilight you can often see the depth of the detail job in shadows, it is very noticeable
although the drastic change after a detail isn't that much, a black car will easily get dirty/lose the shine faster than a white car

i hand applied AutoGlym HD Wax twice and waited 24 hour before I applied the second layer but I am not sure if I applied enough or over applied??? Any recommended steps to wax? Like how long do you spend working on a panel?
Going to call Ken sometime today to get some tips |
