the link that I posted was created back in 2009 Feb...if you saw it 2-3 months ago, maybe things have changed.

Did you see Miu Miu bags though? or something else? like clothe?

Leopold Stotch 07-07-2010 11:54 AM

oh no, but for something 4 figure price tag handbag...yea

Zyzz 07-07-2010 12:34 PM

why will you buy miu miu in vancouver

miu miu are much cheaper in HK compared to Vancouver

a $1500 chanel hand bag will most likely cost about $2000 in leone

the dior shirt jah bought for 250 i bought for 466, just to give u an idea how ridiculously overpriced leone is

Timpo 07-07-2010 12:48 PM

hmm that's quite significant..

is it only Leone? or Holt or boutique as well?

nothing says i love you like a classic played out LV bag imo.

all girls like LV, and the ones who dont, just haven't found a guy to buy it for them yet.

Zyzz 07-07-2010 02:06 PM

holts mark their prices up quite a bit as well, but not as significant as leone

and lol girls dont wear LV now... just buy a chanel and the girl will show u how much she loves u that night

Timpo 07-07-2010 02:22 PM

I know nothing about handbags but if LV are played out that's good to know I'll just avoid it.
I also heard that Coach is too cheap to be called as a high class brand too.

What about Salvatore Ferragamo or Fendi? They appear to be pretty good?

Zyzz 07-07-2010 02:34 PM

salvatore isnt really well known for their bags, they are mostly for shoes or dress.

the stuff fendi carries these few years are pretty ugly. The good thing about chanel is that their cheapest bag are still too expensive for you to see everywhere, unlike LV or Gucci. All the rich girls i know wear chanel nowadays.

hahaha yeah it did, :) I actually sat and thought for a few minutes thinking what was wrong with his question because it made perfect sense to me. I find Leone a much more enjoyable shopping experience, same with Harry Rosen. With HR I always seem to get the most stuck up sales people.

On a side note has anyone checked out the harry rosen sale? saw it in a chinese magazine and wanted to go pick up a polo and some shirts.

moky 07-07-2010 03:56 PM

lol maybe u should just skip the ferragamo/gucci/chanel and dior, and just go straight up to hermes

I have never been to neither of them, but which one is bigger?

I did some online research about them and yea...people are saying Holt's customer service isn't that great.

I'm not really looking to purchase online as it might take long time and people are saying they got $300+ charged as import duties and stuff.

Holt's customer service varies depending on who you get. Some are awesome and some are god awful but that pretty much applies to most places.

Timpo 07-07-2010 04:40 PM

is it possible to haggle the price at Holt's? if so, how much? can you give me an example so I have some idea?

do they even sell hermes? lol...not that i can afford it

moky 07-07-2010 05:15 PM

no, hermes has a separate store on the corner of burrard and alberni. it faces tiffany and co on one side, and the fairmont hotel georgia on the other.

Timpo 07-07-2010 08:20 PM

ok i see it on google map now

this.

If you're planning on coming to vancouver to purchase something, its not that hard to go Holts and Leone on the same day. They are only a couple blocks away from each other. Leone and Holts don't just pull these markups out of their asses, both will be marked up considering its Canada, but it won't be a huge difference. Of course if your comparing prices in Canada to the US, then the US is much cheaper.

Timpo 07-07-2010 10:29 PM

what do you mean by "marked up considering its Canada"??

It's not that Canadians are more loaded than Americans...or willing to pay more for no reason.
Is it because of Canadian government charging more tax?

filth 07-07-2010 10:38 PM

I dont know how they decide the markup, but in general, prices in canada are higher than the US. It's not just fashion. Let me help you understand this. Prices for cars in Canada are higher than the US.

Zyzz 07-07-2010 10:39 PM

i thought u live in hk? why are u buying designer bags here in vancouver lol

o and prepared to get raped if u buy hermes as a first gift lmao

Timpo 07-07-2010 10:40 PM

ohhh yeah ok I get it.

$1 US used to be like $1.50 Canadian...now the ratio is about 50:50...they won't instantaniously change the price to match the states.

Timpo 07-07-2010 10:42 PM

but from Vancouver to the states isn't that far away...so I would imagine Holt and Leone would price their products so that it wouldn't worth driving all the way up to the states? or would it...?

Timpo 07-07-2010 10:52 PM

so according to this article, you can NOT huggle the price at Holt Renfrew?

"Since we opened in 1954, we have a one-price policy, period,"
