It's kinda a moot point to get it without data though. Especially a google phone since so much is done online. |

Officially Launched Today http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/h...re/index.shtml No-Contract - 449.99 3-Year Contract 79.99 |
The thing is that I'm on fido and unwilling to switch over to any company since I have a retention plan. The galaxy S is $500 from bell and the desire is $450, even with unlocking fees it will cost significantly less then if I say go cellworldco or phonemore to purchase the phones. Also my parents have been with telus since it first came out here, and they're getting ripped off since retention has basically given them shit. like add $5 for 50 mins so I was hoping to get the desire well at the same time getting them a much better plan. |
Just in time. Simple rooting for Android without flashing the rom. http://blog.23corner.com/2010/08/04/...versalandroot/ |

I have no idea how I would unlock the desire which is why I called jpcellular and they told me it'll cost them 50$. The last time I messed around with a phone (tytn 2) I basically fucked it up completely. I'm basically set on this phone, getting my parents to buy it since I don't think non telus customers can just walk in and purchase the phone. |

You can't buy the desire from telus in store, after a lot of talking it ended up being that because my parents plan is only 15$ a month they were unable to allow me to purchase the phone through her account without having to raise her plan to 30$ a month and taking back her old cdma phone. This was after we were told we couldn't just buy the phone for $450 without a plan. If I did it would cost something like $700 to just buy the phone. End result is that they told me to buy from telus.ca and then unlock it because if you buy online it won't require a plan or anything and I can still buy it at $450. |
which store did you go to? from what I know the no-contract is 449 everywhere and they have to sell it at that price but I know many stores would not do it because they are holding on to the phones to wait for contract signing users so they can maximize their profit. So, call around and see because I know some stores like Tom Harris list the no-contract price on their site. also there seem to be no unlock code yet. all those unlocking sites are waiting for their server to update for the codes. They said they contacted HTC and usually it takes 1 to 2 days for them to get back. |
