Traffic is going past you at 120 clicks, there are debris everywhere, you didn't know there's a flipped crushed can until you just made it past that big dump lorry; By then you won't be able to stop anywhere near the wreck; you don't know if there are other emergency vehicles on their way, you know nothing compared to the paramedics; I'm on a horse; This post is now diamonds.

But maybe in the movies and in utopia someone who happens to be a paramedic with a full first aid kit in his car might drive by unusually slow and stop and somehow whip out a jack of life and rescue the guy, then proceed to save his life. They become BFF. Do do do do do dooo doo~

Hyde is being a douchey ass for implying that people who want to help or slow for information or call to be witnesses are idealistic asshats who are retarded idealistic idiots, as opposed to the admirable members of society we should try to be.

I have witnessed several incidents, and have always taken the time to either pull over or help those in need when possible, and called to report my point of view when not.

There are a lot of ways to get your point across.
Unfortunately, Hyde does not possess the social tact or maturity to make his argument valid to most of the people here. People who defend his cause in the same manner are probably just as negative as he is.

Right or wrong, being a dick will never gain you respect in any facet of life. Being a dick on Revscene gives you a time out for 30 days and in turn, makes conversations a lot more mature and interesting in my opinion.

I keep high visibility vest and fire extinguisher in my truck, and believe it or not, I bought a used jaws of life a an auction a little while ago. Going to power it with a air/hydraulic pump and the air compressor system built into my winch. Too lazy to install a PTO.


I don't think most people know about this recent law or seen the signs on the side of the road.

“SLOW DOWN, MOVE OVER” LAW NOW IN EFFECT

VICTORIA – A new regulation takes effect today to enhance the safety of emergency workers by requiring drivers to slow down and move over when passing parked emergency vehicles that have their lights flashing.

The new Motor Vehicle Act regulation applies to drivers passing police, fire, ambulance and towing vehicles, as well as vehicles used by commercial vehicle safety and enforcement personnel, passenger transportation inspectors, conservation officers, park rangers, and special provincial constables employed in the Ministry of Forests and Range.

Drivers must now slow to 70 km/h on highways where the speed limit is 80 km/h or higher, and to 40 km/h where the limit is below 80 km/h, when approaching a stopped emergency vehicle that has lights flashing. If there is another lane going in the same direction, drivers must also move into that lane if it is safe to do so.

The penalty for not slowing to the designated speed, not moving over, or both, is a fine and three penalty points on the driver’s licence. The fine, including a 15 per cent victim surcharge, is $148 if paid within 30 days or $173 thereafter. An existing penalty remains in place for failing to yield to a moving emergency vehicle.

Between 2001 and 2007, 21 emergency workers were injured or killed on B.C. roads – 12 of them at the roadside.

The new regulation is supported by organizations representing emergency workers including the Office of the Fire Commissioner and Fire Chiefs’ Association of B.C., BC Ambulance Service, BC Association of Chiefs of Police, the British Columbia towing industry and the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA).

Which is not the case. And Taiwan is not part of BC jurisdiction.

The new BC law, while making total sense, also makes one wonder if cops will now set up speed traps at accident scenes.

Dunno about the rest of you guys, but I always slow down less than 70 and look at the wreckage. Bit of a natural reaction. ;) I'm sure most average Joes would too.

i've seen a few highway accidents right infront me (in toronto 401 & 404 hwy)
usually it is not advisable to stop or make any sudden movement or speed changes because it creates a greater hazard for the vehicles behind you...

move along, call 911 and report everything you see, leave your name and phone # in case they need to reach you for witness account.

btw I would never get out of a vehicle on these hwy where typical traffic speed is 130km/h+.....all it takes is 1 retarded driver who pay too much attention at you, and end up driving his/her car straight at you (and there are a few hundreds cars passing every minute in these busy hwys)
