Off topic: Why do these GT cup cars have that distinct whine? Lack of sound insulation? Sequential gearbox?

Can anyone explain dog-box transmissions and sequential gear boxes? Are they the same thing.

A quick search from google and I found a website that said dog-box transmissions are just clutchless transmissions. Any input on this?
