breathalyzer scores

Hello,

Just went through a road block and passed a breathalyzer exam.
I had 3 beers over 2 hours, then drove 2.5 hours after my last sip.

I got a score of "10" and the lady officer said I passed and that my story matched my score. She sent me happily on my way after.

What does that score of 10 mean? is it .01?

I'd just like to know for future reference, how close to a fail or pass that is?

That is the same as .01mg%...you would be hooped for a 12 hour suspension if you wrere in the GLP..you have .40 mg% to go to get a 215 suspension ...and you had .71 mg% to go before you were technically driving with over .08 mg%. I think that what you had to drink left you under the legal minimums...talking strictly on the readings as impairment. You can still be impaired even with readings under .08 mg% but you will be charged with being impaired and not with being over .08mg%. Same but different.

so how many beers is .08? .05?

How will the new law in september affect this? I don't D&D, but I am curious since there's the odd time where I have a beer or a glass of wine at dinner

Mostly it depends on how much you weigh, but there is a slight difference between male and female.

I'm 6'1, about 210lbs.

I generally have no idea. I can have 3 beers in a row but be completely unaffected.

I just play it safe though when I have to drive =p

You could probably buy one from DavTech, but it would not be cheap, and you would need testing materials to insure that it was calibrated.

1 beer/wine/cocktail an hour is a rough guide. If you're a 100 lb female or 220 lb male you will be outside this rough guide.

I have blown a few times, the most was a 0.031 an hour after having 3 drinks.

IMHO you have to be stupid to blow a 0.05 or 0.08. It means you were not taking any care to have a drink then wait a bit before driving, and you deserve the new harsher punishment.

A Friend of mine got one, and we bring it to parties as a game. The person who blows the highest reading wins LOL. We always end up passed out by the end of the night.

Its unfortunate that VPD don't do as many impaired charges as they could. You got off very lucky.
