I think I'm going to turn my Driver's License in 1 Attachment(s) Hi everyone, today I was driving to Vancouver to see the fireworks and I was driving down Clark Dr and I slowly rolled over a red light. The intersection was at Clark Dr and E 10 Ave and as we were going down the hill, I got blinded from the sun, it was VERY bright and slowly rolled through a red light. By the time I found out I ran over the light, I slammed my breaks but I was already under the traffic light and luckily this was a one way lane and the traffic light was controlled pedestrians and there was a divider so there was no left turns. After I found out that I put myself and my friends at risk, and other people's life at risk, I pulled over to the side and had an anxiety attack. I thought I was a good driver, I've never put anyone's life in danger until today. I fully stop at signs and traffic light and I guess today I was just horrible. I'm clueless what to do with myself and I'm going to pay all the fines. Has anyone been into this kind of situation before? |
relax bro, shit happens, let this be a wake up call for you to always be alert when driving |
Don't be so hard on yourself, the sun was in your eyes which is why you were unable to see the traffic light. |
you kiddin right? |
Get sunglasses. |
|
ughh.... grow some balls.. shit happens.... at least your not an idiot who would speed or street racer to endanger your passengers... |
I did that once.. well something similar lol =s Sun was in my eye, nice summer day. It was a pedestrian controlled light but no body was crossing. I stopped, along with all the other cars in the on-coming lanes (2) and the lane beside me. As I remember it, I just started letting the clutch go and rolled through while all the other cars were still stopped. I think some guy even honked at me to try and "wake me up??" Anyways, there were no cars or anything, it's a habit I keep to check intersections when I pass them so I didn't really panick but had more of a wtf moment. The only thing that bothers me is that I recall thinking in my head "oh hey it's green, I can go now" but have no idea where that idea came from... I would not have even known what I did if my brother wasn't a couple of cars behind me. I only realized what happened when we arrived at wherever we were going and he asked me "wtf were you doing?" lol ... But I agree with everyone else, we all make mistakes and just let this be a lesson to you to not let your mind wander too far when you're driving! Always shoulder check, even when it's 3am and no one is on the road. It's best to habitualize these safety precautions imo, never know when they will save your life! |

i guess its time for you to go out and buy a pair of sunglasses be thankful you didnt cause an accident |
Lol the world is going to end for you eh? |
I still don't get the point of this thread. Are you apologizing to RS that you rolled over a red? |
bro, like you said you are normally a good driver. i can understand dat u feel guilty for putting your friends lives in danger, but mistakes occur and just dont be so hard on yourself! buy some sunglasses, relax and get back out there! |
learn from experience. this was an experience. learn from it. be more careful next time! |
^ Funny you should start this thread today. Today I ran a red light. Haven't done that in years. It was red for a good 1-2s too; I simply didn't see it. Was chatting with a buddy (passenger) and was watching another traffic light a block away instead. Good thing the guy on my right (turning R into my lane) was smart enough not to proceed or it would've been crunch (and loss of RoadStar) time. I remember another time in 2004 where the light turned green (for me) right as I was adjusting my radio, so I looked down for an extra 1/2 second or so. I looked up just in time to see a CRV blow the red light directly in front of me (I was 1st in line) and take out the car moving in the opposite direction of myself. The CRV driver didn't see the red either so this was a full 60 km/h collision. |
next time you get blinded, cover your brakes. quickly look behind you and if you have space then just slow down and get yourself together. you got away with one today, might not be so lucky next time around. |
Usually, this works http://thejosevilson.com/wp-content/...ing_squint.jpg Or like. Get $10 ones from H&M. http://0.tqn.com/d/accessories/1/0/Z...sunglasses.jpg |
Am I the only one who thinks this is a parody to all the other threads? |
Consequences will never be the same |
We don't drive perfectly all the time so don't be too hard on yourself and let this be a lesson learned! |
are you going to get starcraft 2? |
i smell TROLLLLSAUCE! |
