Police seize $1.7b USD of marijuana

That's a lot of weed.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-10811870

Quote:
Police in California say they have seized $1.7bn worth of marijuana plants in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

They have also arrested 97 people over the past three weeks, most of them Mexican nationals believed to have ties with Mexican drug cartels.

White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said police had found industrial-sized plantations of marijuana.

Experts say Mexican cartels are increasingly growing marijuana in the US, rather than smuggling it there.

450 officers from local, state and federal agencies took part in the raids in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California.

They found more than a hundred locations where marijuana was being grown illegally.

OPERATION TRIDENT
Continue reading the main story

* 432,271 marijuana plants destroyed
* 499 pounds processed marijuana seized
* 97 people arrested

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said the marijuana plantations were a danger to local residents, as the organised crime gangs behind them "don't just grow marijuana on our public lands".

"They continue their criminal conduct during their off-season with other illegal drug and violent activities in our local communities," she said.

Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Gil Kerlikowske said "tremendous devastation" had been done by the industrial-sized fields.

He said eradication teams removed thousands of pounds of toxic fertilizers and rubbish from the sites.

look at this again, this was all out door which gets you more bud, say on average 1lb a plant. They got 432,271 marijuana plants destroyed so take that closer to 500k lbs not 500.

People do not get 1lbs of bud per plant, not even close, unless they let it grow for a long-ass time but in this case, based on the number of plants being grown I'm sure they try to crop as early as ripe

1lb per plant would be pretty damn good haha. An ounce a plant is pretty common.

Berz out.

on average a out door plant in Cali it about 6' tall and they are getting 1lb from it since it's more about quantity then quality for the out door shows. This is only the best growers i'm talking about not everyone can go out and get 1lb out of it in the best soil primo conditions

heck ya, here we don't get enough sun for really good outdoor. In Cali all the sun and the water irrigation they have is so good they are pushing huge plants right now. Up here the plants are engineered to be 3-4' but the quality is 2nd to none. Don't get me wrong I have smoked some crazy outdoor when I was in portland at a buddys.

Haha well if you're dumb enough to let 432,271 or so plants grow that high outdoors, you're just asking to get busted

Just imagine how much tax revenue the California government would get if all that was sold legally... Especially since California is really hurting for cash right now.
