| Oxygen Bars
Has anyone been to one?
I googled and came up with some places that rent bars for parties and whatnot.
So, does it really make you feel rejuvenated or is it just a gimick?

I forgot the reason why, but I remember way back my teacher in Bio12 told me those Oxygen Bars are just a gimmick.

verdict seems to be bad. Quote:
The notion that we need extra oxygen is ludicrous. The human body has adapted quite well to this lower atmosphere of ours that is roughly 21 percent oxygen, 78 percent nitrogen and 1 percent trace gases. Blood cells, on exiting the lungs, are nearly saturated with about 97 percent oxygen bound molecularly to hemoglobin. Getting more oxygen serves no purpose. In fact, it's a bad thing.
Deep in the lungs, tiny and fragile sacs called alveoli are the site where inhaled oxygen enters the bloodstream and carbon dioxide leaves to be exhaled. With a surplus of oxygen in the lungs, the carbon dioxide can't leave the body. Worse, the build up of oxygen in the lungs can collapse the alveoli and cause permanent lung damage. Adults with emphysema, chronic asthma or chronic bronchitis, in particular, will stop breathing if they inhale pure oxygen for too long. Premature babies, given extra oxygen because their lungs aren't sufficiently mature to transfer oxygen into the blood, can go blind if the concentration gets too high, a malady called retinopathy of prematurity; that's likely what happened to Stevie Wonder.

I wouldnt be surprised that it is the 30 percent increase in CO2(ppm) over the last two centuries that people today may tend to be drowsier, less alert, and reluctant to work more than 40 or so hours a week. I wouldnt be surprised people were 'stronger' two centuries ago. If this is true id postulate that the body today can adjust by adjusting various hormones and other regulatory substances.
Oxygen bars? Im not surprised if it takes off. While one's plan of running a business might get dragged down by common obstacles, the idea is to get people with money to spend it, right? On a side note, there is now a kitten 'bar' in Japan where patrons pay to stay at the establishment that is full of kittens. You gotta do what you gotta do to win right? What next? Lace the kittens?
Just as far back as the 19th century, politicians were tossing around terms such as 'Turkish cat meat' and today just across the pond, millions are be made harvesting tigers.

Kitten bar........... pedobear hangout, LOL.
Back on topic....... I was just hoping the extra oxygen would be good for this tired old body. Ex smoker of 35+ years. Living and working in the Valley (smog repository for the GVRD). So according to most people here, it is just a gimmick, like a poorly designed CAI. Oh well, gonna try it just for kicks. Perhaps I should just go visit Vansterdam's bar. BTW, what ever happened to him?
