Knight Street Bridge Northbound: AVOID ALL COSTS I just sat through an hour wait (no lie) just to cross the bridge. People actually took measures by turning around and driving against traffic in order to head back to Westminster! Apparently they were working on construction to change the signs above the bridge since 4pm :S Did anybody see this? |

I avoided it and went across the Queensborough. It was on AM 730. I left Richmond at around 4:15. Still working on the signs, eh? Five people watcing while two do the work, LOL. |
just drove by and north bound still packed all the way to alderbridge exit. its nuts. |
Wow, any info on the accident? |
This summer has been full of bad accidents. Hwy 1 is crazy. An accident almost every day. There aren't any chicks in short shorts walking on the shoulders, so WTF? Do people get dumber as temperature rises? I guess all the construction has to do with some of it. |
i was stuck there from 10:00pm till 11:15pm....traffic started to move a little but i was running out of gas :S so instead of taking another risk, i took the bridgeport rd exit and went to chevron on no.5. argh. |
holy crap no wonder!!! I was like wtf why soo much of a traffic! |
you shouldve seen it at 4:30pm, northbound was backed all the way to westminster hwy, yet people still tried to turn left lol, dumbasses i was driving southbound fine and was like daym sucks for the ppl without AC in their cars |
its was stupid. they should of closed all the traffic to knight starting from westminster and block all exits from bridgeport and back. people should listen to AM 730 on their radio more often. i save so much time because of it |

LOL at our road workers. Why don't they keep that damn sign down until like midnight before even attempting to put it back up? Missing a direction sign never killed anyone.... :bullshit: |
Was stuck there from around 9pm and didn't get out til 1030pm. Retarded how when we drove by the bridge is blocked and the "workers" are just standing around doing jack shit |
I was there after work.. maybe spent around 45 minutes?? this was at 6 20 - 7 05. at that time they already had a crane there and everything seemed in place. i didnt hear the radio about knight street until i was exiting from 91 highway..fml but anyways, watching what happened reminded me of something: in canada, they would have 10 people working --> 1 on crane, 1 on the walkie talkie, 1 holding the slow sign, 1 on permanent smoke break, 1 bolting the sign back, 5 watching in china, they would also have 10 people working --> 1 on crane, 1 supervisor making sure everything is ok, 8 people trying to bolt the damn thing back on asap. slow sign is put on a stand. |
I waited 15 minutes in traffic then just said screw it and rode on the shoulder, thank god I rode my bike instead of driving. Got across the bridge within 10 minutes. When I rode past I noticed a large part of the metal beam holding up the sign was ripped off on one side and bent, looks like a semi had something hanging off and hit it. I don't know anything about construction but I think they might have to replace the whole thing. |
went southbound around 5ish and saw the cars backed up to westminster hwy, it was crazy |
5pm was too nuts. Bridgeport and Viking Way came to a halt, and every other street connecting to Knight Bridge was a nightmare. Even going West Bound on Bridgeport was almost a fail. Good thing for River Road, it was empty. |
Was driving southbound earlier today, saw traffic backed up almost to new west. What happened exactly? Where they only changing a sign? Someone told me a truck flipped over. |
Sorry to those of you who were stuck on the bridge, I thought it was pretty funny when I saw the line-up of cars. Heard the news during the afternoon at work about a truck hitting a pole, and they told us that it'd be shut down for an hour or two starting 8pm. Then I drive back to Richmond and see a bunch of people stuck there, sometimes its best to stick with the good old radio as opposed to CDs and Satellite Radio guys :lol To be fair, karma almost bit me in the ass later that night when I was headed to Stanley Park LOL. I forgot about the traffic jam and ended up pulling a U turn on Westminster. |
id much rather wait through traffic on the Oak Bridge rather then the Knight Bridge during any traffic jam... traffic seems to move faster on Oak Bridge.. |

They're doing construction on Nanaimo st. and I'm always thinking, why the hell do you need a guy holding a slow/stop sign at a traffic light? There's already a traffic light, do you really need a guy to hold a stop sign at a red light? |
the idiots that hold the slow signs are all cocks. |
