Just got power back 10mins ago...
Certain areas of sw marine drive, fraser, main and cambie was out. I was driving through that area.
Some ppl dont know how to use 4way stops...
Good thing I had my LED flashlights when I was home.
Hope everyones ok.
When the power was out ... i thought to myself someone on RS
might be thinking of the FUUUUUUUUUUUU icon. Hahhahaha Posted via RS Mobile
Was driving on 57th and Knight and along 49th at 9pm. All power was out. Gas stations no light. light poles and traffic lights were out. Houses were all dark. Basically driving in the dark with people and their high beams on while the pedestrians were hard to see. Good thing I wasn't driving behind people with Honda's that don't turn on their head/tail-lights.
The power outage killed the SkyTran service between Joyce and Nanaimo, forced a 20 minute wait on trains going to Surrey, and people had to go to the Millenium Line to get to DT.
Metrotown Station was a sardine can at like 10PM lol.
What hasn't Killed me, has made me more tolerant of RS!

BC Hydro is reporting that a substation fault at 9:19 p.m. this evening resulted in a blackout for 62,106 customers. The affected homes and businesses are in Vancouver's southeast, stretching from approximately Cambie to Boundary and from approximately 12th Avenue to Southeast Marine Drive.

A substation fault that began at around 9:00 p.m. this evening resulted in a blackout for 62,106 customers in areas of Vancouver, Burnaby, and Richmond.
The bulk of affected homes and businesses were in Vancouver's southeast, stretching from approximately Cambie to Boundary and from approximately 12th Avenue to Kent Avenue, below Southeast Marine Drive.
Translink also suffered an outage, due to the loss of power to the SkyTrain Expo and Millenium lines between Commercial-Broadway and Metrotown stations, resulting in a loss of service to the Nanaimo, 29th Avenue, Joyce-Collingwood and Patterson SkyTrain stations.
"Generators will be set up soon to help get SkyTrain running again, but we don't have an estimate on when they'll be running," Translink's spokesperson Drew Snider emailed in a press statement at 10:17 p.m.
In the meantime, a "bus bridge" was established to move riders between Commercial-Broadway and Metrotown stations. The Millenium Line between Commercial and Columbia via Production Way was not affected and offered an alternate roundabout route to access most stations.
Special event PNE buses were terminating at Renfrew Station instead of 29th Avenue, which was closed during the outage.
BC Hydro has estimated on its web site that power would be restored by 11:00 p.m. Partial restorations at 10:10 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. left 45,096 and 29,175, respectively, in the dark. By 10:35 p.m. all the lights and appliances -- and presumably the SkyTrain stations -- were back online.
CKNW news reported that there was a small explosion at the affected substation, but a BC Hydro spokesperson could not confirm that fact nor disclose the location of the substation as of 10:40 p.m. Saturday night

church @ 59th and knight lost power, we called it quits and went to bbt.
Corner 23 @ Cambie and 23rd also had no power.
Freaking idiots can't drive.
People on the main roads aren't stopping at the blacked out signals, and just rushing through. Others don't know how to do a proper 4-way stop.
Riding around on my scooter is scary as heck.
There's no streetlights, and riding on 33rd past the cemetery just gave me chills.
I thought to myself, zombie apocalypse, that's what it felt like.
was at a family friends house around 34th and victoria, dad was singing kareoke and bam all of a sudden powers done... i went outside to check it out and a firetruck + 3 cruisers were blocking victoria and 33rd to cars heading towers marine.... the accident looked pretty bad.

My tv was on during the power outage, and so it all turned off. But after the power went back on, all shaw channels are showing up as nothing, but displaying a msg that says something like please wait or the channel will be back in one moment. This is happening to every single channel. Anyone know how to reset or let is rescan all channels?

I heard the *bang* about 1/2 a second after the initial flicker of my lights. That was at 9:00pm on the dot. My area (41st & Knight) had no power outage. Across the street had power outage. Noted a lot of areas around also had no power, all the way to Boundary.

GG, called shaw CSR and they couldnt fix it over the phone or on their end. The guy said he couldn't get a tech out to my area (Killarney) for 10 DAYS.
That is some complete BS. Going to have to call back again, no way I'm waiting 9 days without compensation at least.
