Going to the states this week to pickup a laptop, a friend told me they are exempt from taxes so when declaring it i wont be charged a tax, can anyone confirm this? I know there are some goods that are exempt, cant find anything on the revenue Canada website, thanks!
Computers & electronics are DUTY free. Not tax free. Meaning you don't pay duties like you would with alcohol, tobacco, some car parts, etc. You still pay taxes over your travel exemption, depending on how long you're gone for.
